Re: OBJ to Saints... anyway?
I don’t see why he would even want to come here when Green Bay and others are strong favorites to make it to the SB. There’s really nothing in it for him. Do you think he would rather have Rodgers/Wilson throwing to him or a 3rd string Qb and utility player.
I guess he would get his wish of getting 99.9% of the balls thrown at him. |

Re: OBJ to Saints... anyway?
I am not sure if we make sense for Odell after the Winston injury. He could have several possible objectives: chase a ring this year, earn a high salary this year, rack up stats to earn a high salary next year, or find a long term home to sign a long term contract in a stable productive environment.
For chasing a ring, we are a contender, but a marginal one. For earning a high salary this year, we have among the least in cap flexibility. We could always create cap flexibility, but as a marginal contender without a good QB situation I think it would be questionable to mortgage the future to win now. To rack up stats this year to maximize his value on the open market this season, he would clearly be option 1A in our receiving core, but with our questionable quarterbacking situation, he might not have the ideal QB to throw him the ball. This would have worked a lot better if Jameis was still around or we signed Rivers. To find a long term home, we are way over the cap for next year, have questions at QB, and tons of home grown talent entering free agency. So unless OBJ has limited interest or just wants to play for his home team, I fear we are not the best option. For us, I think he would make sense if he will play cheap. Our record is too good to tank the season probably. I doubt we can contend for a championship with out QB issues and inconsistency, but if the defense catches fire you never know. |

Re: OBJ to Saints... anyway?
Maybe he would go to Baltimore. Good QB, definite contender, questionable other receivers. Hollywood Brown might be a #3 on some teams, he is clearly ok but not a star and just gets a lot of passes because they dont have anyone else.

Re: OBJ to Saints... anyway?
I’m afraid we’re going to see a repercussion of not having Brees anymore. Free agents wanted to come to the Saints because of #9.
