Moved to the Dallas area a couple of years ago so I listen to the local sports programs pretty religiously before I turn on THE BIG 870 in the evenings. I can guarantee you that if there is ever so much of a whisper that Sean Payton is available by trade, will be fired or is looking to resign that Jerry Jones will fire whoever his head coach at the time and bring Sean Payton in and make him the highest paid coach in the league. The radio guys here constantly claim that Jerry and Steven Jones both regret the day they let Sean walk and if he ever comes available again they want make the same mistake twice. Now In saying all of this I don’t believe Sean will leave because he has it made in New Orleans and is involved in pretty much every on field decision and would not be in Dallas. However, with a change in ownership coming sooner than later I would imagine all of this will become a hot news story one way or another, but you get a guy like Russell Wilson who will be here for the next 8-10 years my guess is Sean goes nowhere.
Welcome, and you are correct. Payton has nothing to gain and everything to lose by staying in New Orleans. As for change in ownership, I wouldn't be so sure about the "sooner" part. Gayle has recently stated that she is going to be owner until she passes and Payton may need to retire before that happens.

Well I hope you are correct about ownership because I believe her hands off approach is the best way to run it. However I was curious if there are any rumblings about who might be interested in such a purchase if the day ever came. I’m wondering about a Manning ownership group actually.

I could actually see that happening. Her stipulation is that the buyer after her death has to keep the team in New Orleans. That can be handled contractually. The Mannings (with other deep pockets) could make that happen. However, I really think Gayle is likely to outlive Archie, so it will have to be Peyton, Eli, and Cooper. Both her parents lived into their late 80's and she's only 74. I can see her easily living another 20 years.

Who would want to move to Chicago? That place is a dumpster fire (the city and the team). There's safer 3rd world countries to live in.
