Allen led the Oakland Raiders to back to back 4-12 seasons in his first two years only to be fired after starting 0-4 in his third season.

Allen's name comes up every year but he never gets the call. Once again, not every great coordinator translates to a good head coach. I believe that's how he is view by those in the know.
Yeah, I get that, but I'm not sure it will hold true after this.

I think this is the perfect example of the Peter Principle.

"The Peter Principle observes that employees rise up through a firm's hierarchy through promotion until they reach a level of respective incompetence."

Dennis Allen makes a great DC, but his strengths are not used at the next level.

That said, I can see a team offering him a ton of money trying to steal him from the Saints as a DC.

Yes. My opinion ... and that of many others over the years. He was miserable with the Raiders as head coach. But great before and after as DC.

Of course they won't. There's always someone out there willing to take a chance. Foolish or not.
