I once again mention Bill Cowher as a comparison. That man lived and breathed football and stepped cleanly away from coaching at eight years younger than Payton is now. I remember Parcells being "done" with coaching too. Took a 2-year "hiatus", then came back & eventually took Patriots to the Super Bowl.

I watched the presser early this morning and came away with the same impression as Guido. He looked at peace and ready for something different. I can empathize and completely understand. And I've changed my mind on how good he'll be in the booth. I think he'll be fine. Should he come back , it may be in management , front office type of stuff, maybe even with the Saints. He mentioned that he was fixing to move into a new home in n New Orleans. Who is knows what the future portends with SP.
