Re: Payton to take a year off?
Last year the Saints were 100 million over the cap and his Hall of Fame QB had just retired. Don't see how this situation is any worse.

Re: Payton to take a year off?
It isn't. Nowhere near as bad as last season. They can immediately clear $88 million in convertible cap without cutting any players nor adding any guaranteed money all through base salary and roster bonus conversions.

When and if he "un retires", he'll want a fresh start elsewhere. Brace yourself for that. |

Re: Payton to take a year off?
Payton isn’t coming back to the Saints after a year off lol. That’s delusional. Why would anyone take the head coach job if they knew that was the case?

Re: Payton to take a year off?
Not many teams can say they've had the run of success Payton had. Sure this team had some bad losses, but I look back at a bunch of seasons with fond memories.
One of my favourite moments, 2011 vs Giants. Payton back on the sideline from a broken leg. When Jimmy Graham scored, Payton lifted his crutches to signal TD lol Thanks for everything SP, that Superbowl and those winning seasons were truly special memories. |

Re: Payton to take a year off?
Whoa. Ok people, calm down.
“ He saw the writing on the wall and ran like a little b=*&+.” “Bet he is going to Dallas.” “Thanks for leaving us with garbage o- line.” Any fairweather fans here? Hmmmm. Me, I was Saints fan when they won A GAME. ONE. One game. 1980 or 81, they won A GAME. They lost the other 15, lol. Oh boy , the Mora 1980s. Winning seasons . 8-8. 9-7. Lol. SeanP is leaving for this year, at least from hc. He might end up on air commentator or guest commentator somewhere . He might end up hc AT ANOTHER TEAM in 2023. Good for him. The past 15 years have been pretty awesome. He owes Saints and fans nothing. I am not surprised by the news. Real life, real facts. Saints do not have a qb. Rebuilding years are here. During SeanP’s years, Saints got taken way down by Goodell’s excessive punishment that year. Refs threw the NFC game to the L.A.Rams . Two great years his hard work , and the teams’ was really taken away. One potential SB repeat year A NFC conference win, no to refs clearly missed call. The guy gave a good press conference. Honest. From the bits I saw. I am glad he did it now rather way in the Spring. Obviously, this is something he thought about over the past few months, this whole season. Best to him. |
