Payton to take a year off?

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/s...am-per-report/

Just a rumor right now, but, if true, Dennis Allen better get a job offer from the Saints quick like.

We'll deal with the thanking Sean for his time later.

Gotohell and the league truly do hate the Saints. They will stop at nothing to stir up **** for them.

Re: Payton to take a year off?

This seems like a reach. I bet CSP is just disconnecting and taking some much deserved full-on R&R time. It's a long offseason - might as well!

The article states that Payton has three years left on his contract but they just say he’ll up and leave to coach somewhere else like it’s actually up to him.

I think Gayle Benson would let him walk away if she was convinced it's what he truly wanted.

CSP is on vacation.

There are a lot of sleazeball journalists out there digging for a "story".

Clickbait.

Re: Payton to take a year off?

I will say this though, I believe the idea of Payton retiring way more than him just jumping ship to go coach the Cowboys or Giants. Payton’s well aware of the officiating bias against him, hence quitting the competition committee.

I said in another thread that we will not be going to the Super Bowl again with Payton as coach… the NFL won’t allow it. Maybe Payton’s tired of fighting a losing battle.

Sean has earned and deserves a vacation. Like jp said it's click bait hoping this will make them get a couple of extra dollars from the sponsors who will pay for that crap. :argue:

To be blunt, Goodell is the one who needs to take a year off.

Re: Payton to take a year off?

$20 says Payton's going to be the Saints coach in 2022. I'd love some free money from all takers. He's actually under contract through 2026. That FIVE more years. As Major said, this is just the annual clickbait at this time of year.

The guy in the article doesn't even know that in 2019 Payton signed a five extension on his contract. That original contract was still in place. He's mistakenly figured it was five year from 2019. It actually runs through the end of 2026 as Mike Triplett pointed out a couple of weeks ago when the clickbait started again.

But you're right, he cannot contractually go elsewhere to coach for five more years. And why would he, right? He's got more power over operations in New Orleans than he could have anywhere else. He has a roster that can win now.

Ian Fullacrap is just that.

Saints, Sean Payton agree to five-year contract extension

John Sigler
September 15, 2019 1:03 pm CT

The New Orleans Saints and head coach Sean Payton have agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension to keep him in town through the 2026 season, as first reported by Jay Glazer of FOX Sports. Payton previously inked a five-year extension in March 2016, which was set to expire in 2021.

Re: Payton to take a year off?

They want the saints to not be relevant. They thought when Drew left we’d return to the bag saints but it didn’t happen like they wanted. Minus Jameis and couple other guys injuries, this team would have home field. They now know Sean can really coach. We knew this but they didn’t. He’s not going nowhere. To think Sean would put up with Jerry or Mark Davis is a joke.

Re: Payton to take a year off?

I don't know much about how contracts work with NFL coaches, but if Sean wanted to coach somewhere else I would have to assume when he did his latest deal that an escape clause was included. I do believe he would not coach anywhere else immediately and would take some time off if needed.

neugey 01-23-2022 01:17 PM

Re: Payton to take a year off?

People are just jealous, because other than the big guy in Kansas City, CSP's better than any other coach still remaining in the playoffs.

Just curious. What do you believe he would have coaching somewhere else that he doesn't already have in New Orleans? Really the same question for anyone else. I haven't seen any logical explanation from any pundit that has brought this subject up.

Saw this a day or so ago. Seems like every off season we have to read about him leaving, getting traded, going to the Cows or Giants.

It's just fodder. And its annoying...kind of like a nerd trying to bet someone money so he can say "I told ya so!" Lol.

The whole league wants SP to take a year off. He won't though. He's still got work to do with the transition at QB.

This guy knows that he's a jerk, gets under people's skin and claims to be a victim as soon as the tables are turned or when someone questions him. But the truly bizarre part? A few posters on here, people I like, actually believe him when he says that he's a victim.

People who are narcissistic do not know they have a disorder, which almost always lands on the PD spectrum. Speedo is ate up with it, but these people are very good at covering it up. They do this precisely how speedo does it, by being a victim.

Look we all know who and what this idiot is. Even those who have 'supported' him also call him a sarcastic *******. They just haven't been directly attacked so they see him precisely as he wants them to: a victim.

I'll PM anybody who wants it the history. I have been keeping track of speedo for a very long time. I know who he's attacked, when, and how. I have all of his race-baiting posts too, which are the ones that really hack me off. My first attempts were to reason with him via PM, and he capitulated on more than one occasion and apologized because he thought as a 'moderator' here I have some kind of power. Since my quest to shut him down started he's been PMing other moderators trying to have be banned, then PMing me to let me know he's been PMing other moderators. He really is a sick little dude.

And I really don't care if he's banned or not. I do care that he stop attacking people here and race-baiting and feeing his warped ego at the expense of others.

Speedo is the Dwight Schrute of BlackandGold.com.

I have a feeling that Brady and Gronk both retire for good after this season. That given, why would Payton want to leave when the division is there for the easy taking?

So sweet seeing Brady get his.

Re: Payton to take a year off?

I could not have watched or read anything football related if Brady had won … Brady Brady Blah Blah Blah … greatest ever … Blah Blah Blah all that we would have heard for a solid week minimum.

We beat the GOAT 4 out of 5 😬 last 2 seasons 🤗

I've tried to stay out of this. But now I'm just sick of it. By trying to attack Guido for every post he makes, you're just coming across as the a-hole that you accuse him of being.

Just block him and be done with it. While we are here can someone explain how to block a user so I don't have to see this crap every time I log into the forum.

I would love to. How do you do that? I've never blocked anyone before this.

And you still haven't answered my question of why don't you just block him if he irritates you so much?
