Piecing Together a Russell Wilson Trade for the Saints

The Saints News Network Krewe gets together to give their thoughts and pitch their best trade offers for Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

There's a lot of noise going on concerning the Saints, and it's all related to Sean Payton. The silence is deadly, and we'll only see what happens in time. However, one thing is certain for New Orleans going into 2022, and that's the fact of having to get better at the quarterback position. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is a hot name that could be on the move, but that's not certainly a given.

We looked at a few options the Saints have going into the new season. Could getting a marquee quarterback make New Orleans a more attractive destination for a free agent? We previously discussed how bad the wide receiver production was, and that's also an area that leaves a lot to the imagination for the team. The upgrade for a Sean Payton-led offense is more necessity than luxury right now.

The Saints News Network team got together recently to give their thoughts on what it would take for New Orleans to land Russell Wilson from the Seahawks.

Was Wilson statistically better than Winston this season? Who had the advantage of receivers with Metcalf and Lockett vs Calloway and Smith? I feel like I would not break the bank when its already broke for a player who is not a clear upgrade. I also dont know how a small qb who relies on mobility and hasnt seemed to progress much since his first few years projects later into his career.

Oh hell no! I would be if we went and spent the future on a 34 year old. If not Winston I want us to get someone young that can be the franchise QB for a long time.

Agreed... there's no way we're giving away draft capital unless it's for Joe Burrow!

Sean Payton is no doubt searching through all the existing QB tape looking for a QB who has the tools like Drew so Payton can coach him up. There will never be another Drew but we can hopefully get close with coach Payton. Sometimes lightning strikes in the same spot twice.

The article mentions 4 QBs. Winston, Wilson, Carr, and Garopolo. I would feel better about any of those guys than I would about anyone they could get a pick 18.

I think you have to find out about the price for Wilson, but Winston is probably the best bet for the Saints. Again, just my 2 cents

I was high on Jimmy G but after watching his last two playoff performances …

Ehhh, I’m gonna have to decline. His defense and special teams bailed him out of bad spots twice so far.
