Re: Michael Thomas back in New Orleans and in a good place
Given how 2022 has started for the Saints ... I don't care if we need to stretch reality a little bit to get some good news!!!

Re: Michael Thomas back in New Orleans and in a good place
Good for Mike but the Saints still need to be aggressive in Free Agency at WR & subsequent draft.
You can never have enough playmakers on offense. |

He is an employee, unfortunately he still gets paid without results, unlike the "real world". Which is the one we live in. If he is actually having an "oh ****" moment my vacation is over, then good, back it up with results. |

If we trade Thomas then I'm fine with that. If he plays here then he needs to ball out or I'm still holding a grudge.

Re: Michael Thomas back in New Orleans and in a good place
I want MT on the roster. Can't lie tho I'm afraid if things don't go well he might show out and become a distraction. I hope not. If last year proved anything it proved how much we need him.

Admittedly I'm skeptical.
Need his talent. The rest has to take a back seat to the team goal. If anyone can't get on board, they should be left at the station. |

Unless of course he doesn’t want to be in New Orleans & he’s already gone on record as being ready to put the injury bug behind him and back to balling on Sundays. The franchise better have a damn good Plan B if he isn’t a part of this team in 2023 & beyond. We already know what we have in the supporting cast @ WR :o. |

Re: Michael Thomas back in New Orleans and in a good place
I've heard more about the CAP lately, more than I really wanted to but everything that I'm hearing says the CAP hit would be too big for a trade or cut. He may sit out but I can't see another scenario.

After the intial injury, I forget how many games he came back and how many receptions did he catch? Not the same Thomas, now he is just worried about that big payday he received and would like to keep it going. Saints can drive up his value for trade. The worry is who would replace him? |
Re: Michael Thomas back in New Orleans and in a good place
The only reason there is constant talks about trading Michael Thomas on this forum is because people don’t like him. Once the million dollar race horse gets out of line and says the wrong thing they have to be put down for their lack of appreciation. Rams aren’t trying to move Cooper Kupp. Chiefs aren’t trying to move Tyreek Hill. Packers don’t want to lose Davante Adams. But here are the Saints fans trying to move a top WR talent on a team that is deprived at that position and doesn’t have a QB. The QB whisperer is gone. You need all the talent you can get at these skill positions now. We aren’t about to scheme our way out of **** anymore.

Re: Michael Thomas back in New Orleans and in a good place
The above article ^^^ from Nick basically states having MT back in the lineup dramatically makes things easier for the QB (Taysom, Bridgewater etc) as well as guys around him on offense.
He went on to say that even when he is back at 100, that won’t stop the Saints from going out and seeking additional help (WR) in Free Agency and subsequent draft. We shall see. |

From everything Thomas is saying he wants to return and ball for the Saints. From everything the Saints are saying they want him back and balling for the Saints. From everything the salary cap says is that there's no way you take a huge cap hit by getting rid of perhaps your top asset when you need to do just the opposite. The Saints can clear around $10 million from the 2022 cap with a simple restructure (no approval of the player required) of his $15.35 million base salary and $450K in 2022 bonuses. All that is required is that he remains on the roster. |

I don't see that to say he should have let the Saints make all decisions on his health. I want and believe MT will come back but to say he did nothing out of line is a stretch. Even if he didn't want the Saints input on his recovery plan not answering your phone to your bosses... I wouldn't expect to keep my job if I did the same. |

Bottom line, we're a better offense with MT in and focused on winning.
I'm sure of all people, HE's got to be ready to move beyond the last two seasons of full-tilt distractions. |
