Like it or not, there are not many role models left in the NFL. Its no longer viewed as privilege to be in the NFL, because as long as you can contribute to a Super Bowl, a lot of the personal stuff gets forgotten by many.

As you said, disturbing.

Probably a lot of the same kind of stuff went on behind the scenes back in the day when players actually had private lives.

I've never been a huge fan of his even before all the drama, but he is probably a top 5 QB in the league and could solve the problem with the most important position for the next decade.

Allen failed in part with the Raiders because he didn't have a franchise QB to lean on to, and even if his position is now more secure - I don't think he wants to repeat past failures.

I'd be fine with Watson. Giving away four or five first round picks isn't what a new coach needs to establish "his team" by being handcuffed in the first round. Dennis Allen needs all of those picks to build his team.

I wasn't a fan when he came here but I like the effort from Winston on and off the field. Winston can lead this team to the playoffs or deeper and we can use all those picks on one or two first round QB's with ammunition left for trades still in our pockets.

If he's truly not guilty then I'm all for it.

On the other hand, if he IS guilty then hell no.

Even if not this is something that's sure to drag on and on and on.

Matt Rhule has been terrible (5-11, 5-12) since hired as HC & their o line ranked 31st last season .

I'll be inclined to believe he'll pass on the Kittens.

My guess is that he will land in Pittsburgh with weapons & a proven organization and HC.

Good points.

I could agree in theory, but Allen inherited a team that is already built for success, and he undoubtedly was heavily involved in that process at least on the defensive side.

So it is, at least partly, already "his team."

You can always find ways to acquire additional 1st round picks, and you can certainly retool a winning team with picks from rounds 2 to 7. Add to that the UDFA and I don't think trading away the 1st round picks would be such a big deal IF adding Watson would produce another SB win.

A "no bill" from a Grand Jury is not a not guilty, it only speaks to the evidence that the prosecution presented to the Grand Jury. There was no full disclosure or trial.

Desean Watson has some of the best physical therapists and team masseurs that money can pay for but he chose to hit the happy ending private market lol. He may not be found guilty but he is faaarrrrr from innocent lol.
