Trading him wouldn't be impossible, but maybe less probable.

Correct but Feauxstradamus said "can't".
I am leery of ruling anything out with this team since the Rickey Williams deal.

Don't forget, we also need to make some moves to be able to fit Watson under the cap constraints. Including any player that has been restructured as part of the trade will make that those moves even that much more grueling, and yes, even impossible at some point.

Because the cap doesn't matter tho, rite?

And put us back over the cap. That's why any of the players that have gone through a restructure cannot be involved in the trade without the additional cap space to cover that escalation. Maybe one of the minor restructures, but none of the major ones.

Re: Deshaun Watson to Saints?

Trading Davenport now would result in a dead money cap hit of $9,601,384. That would increase our current cap number by $6,591,938 putting us back over by basically the same amount that we saved by restructuring him in the first place.

So the cap matters then?

You are thinking linearly and that's not how it works. A bundle including his trade deal would be sent to the league with the end net being under the cap.

Show us how that "bundle" could be structured so that the net could be under the cap. Keep in mind, as of 4:00 PM tomorrow the 51 player cap figure must be at or under $208,991,219 and remain at or under that figure.

Yes, if we cut Roby and restructure most of the remaining players eligible we could, I suppose, slip Davenport in as part of a trade, but that would exhaust virtually all remaining cap recovery for further free agency.
