These were the first signings of free agency via spotrac: MAR 15 2022 DJ Chark, WR Signed a 1 year $10 million contract with Detroit (DET) MAR 15 2022 Russell Gage, WR Signed a 3 year $30 million contract with Tampa Bay (TB) MAR 14 2022 Cedrick Wilson, WR Signed a 3 year $22.05 million contract with Miami (MIA) MAR 14 2022 Christian Kirk, WR Signed a 4 year $72 million contract with Jacksonville (JAC) MAR 14 2022 Zay Jones, WR Signed a 3 year $24 million contract with Jacksonville (JAC) Out of 25 free agent signings since only one has been even near that same early high range ... MAR 24 2022 Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WR Signed a 3 year $30 million contract with Kansas City (KC) The market is adjusting downward for the top WR's. It's basic economics and happens every year. It is the proverbial "first wave" versus latter waves of free agency. There are still plenty of WR's out there (supply) and all teams have slowed the pace of signings (demand). |

1. There is no such thing as a going rate for a top WR. Top Wide Receivers are Velbens, not Giffens and would be considered the exception to Supply and Demand even if you hadn't got it bassakwards. 2. The market is not 'adjusting' lol. In Supply and Demand either the product supply or consumer desire is assumed constant, if one isn't relatively constant it doesn't work. In Supply and Demand an increased demand or reduced supply drive prices up (Not down), in this scenario the WR and Teams looking for them are finite and as a WR comes off the market so does a team looking for one so demand stays constant. If we start with 12WR and 10 Teams wanting WR we end with 2WR and 0 Teams... constant demand. If you start with 8WV and 10 Teams then the last 1 WRs potential goes up (not down) because there are 2 teams left wanting him... increased demand. 3. Supply in the NFL for WR will not change until draft day. 4. WR that are not on the open market do not increase supply. A WR being signed can increase or lower the 'market value' of the remaining players but one coming off the market doesn't change the market values of the remaining WR except for the potential to make them go up as teams panic because they do not want to be left empty handed. If you reply with more of your made up condescending BS, civility will be taken off the table. |

Re: Saints sign S Sorensen
Saints were willing to mortgage the farm & draft capital on Watson but want to pinch pennies at a position of need?? Gotcha coach.
Bargain bin, great value players take L’s on Sundays at this level. If the Saints draft for NEED instead of in Free Agency, it’s is a ticking time bomb waiting to happen. What do I know, I’m just a couch coach though 🤷🏼. |

We've the cap situation to deal with as a limiting factor for some of those outrageous contracts handed out. Example of Cleveland comes to mind with DW. I mean, who'd want to live in Cleveland ?!?

Puzzling signing - Is Malcolm Jenkins on the move? retiring?
Has Marcus Maye had some regression in his rehab from Achilles Tendon Sx? Is J.T. Gray being moved? Is this leverage against P.J. Williams asking for too much coin? Is he being moved to a rover LBer? |
