TE Kolar from Iowa State would be a steal. Might need to move up to get him. I don't want to give up on Trautman yet and I realize this creates a logjam at TE position with Taysom part of the arsenal, but still.

Re: 2022 NFL Draft: New Orleans Saints
Based on the Rich Hill trade chart, with the Saints remaining picks 161 and 194, packaged, the Saints could move up to the last pick of Round 4, first pick of Round 5... With regards to the Olave trade, Redskins sent the 11th pick (357.62) for the Saints trade package of the 16th, 98th, and 120th (305.41 + 37.68 + 23.1 = 366.19)... So that's gives the Saints a differential of 8.57 - that's an impressive value swap... Nitpicking some, but it'd been nice if Loomis could've got the Redskins to send back their pick at 189 (4.97), to gain some juice; but, hey, they're under the clock... And, as D.A. stated, Olave was their highest rated WR, most complete prospect, and he's probably right, and we got the two players we most needed in this draft... Mock Drafts got it right for the Saints Olave and Penning, it was just how we got there was the twist... |

Have no problem taking a CB, maybe RAS was too heavily weighted vs film, maybe the inside the locker rooms connect between Saints and Tennessee, the player has limited experience... Bears snatched FS Jaquan Brisker right before at 48 (Honey Badger?); also felt there were better CBs, with better film, which I give the most weight... Some players valued more, bigger impact on roster - TE Trey McBride, LB Troy Anderson, WR Alec Pierce, LB Chad Muma, CB Jalyn Armour-Davis, FS Kerby Joseph... But as Chris and Smash suggested, Saints like that empiracal data, in this case, RAS score, and they give it great weight in their selections... |

That's assuming "need" was the motivation for the pick. They obviously had this guy targeted and didn't want to take the chance of losing him. Having a top 30 CB RAS over the last 35 years means there is something special there.

#IMHO, Pool of players that make great fits to Saints:
LB JoJo Domann (best coverage rating in draft) WRs Kyle Phillips (and a very capable punt returner, only WR to ever truly smoke Derek Stingley on a play) WRz Bo Melton (Tyreek Cheetah Hill speed, Raw) RB Pierre Strong (very similar to another Pierre, only faster) RB Ty Chandler (Home Run Speed, Transferred to UNC, great production) DT Matthew Butler (Capable Pass Rusher, Amazing First Step) NT John Ridgeway (Very raw, but has highest ceiling, Ryan Nielsen multiplier) TE Charlie Kolar (Yes, he's got that high a ceiling) TE Austin Allen (Late Round Gem, Impressive Size to Speed Athleticism) |

I suppose I should take DA at his word but I think the kid will see the field more as a Safety than a CB.
I just read (probably on this beloved site since you all are providing so much great information) that Taylor was a terrific gunner on Special Teams so we'lll likely get to see him play that role this season. |
