Re: 2022 New Orleans Saints roster breakdown: Running backs/fullbacks
Not likely until after they have an idea of any Kamara discipline and timetable. August 26 is the next investigatory hearing scheduled, I believe. I doubt they'll want to sign a vested veteran prior to week one if no suspension has been handed down for Kamara. There's no telling when any legal proceeding will be finalized. The front office have been setting their groundwork and likely have a short list of possibilities they can contact if needed. Kamara's issue aside, we have a better RB situation than much of the league, especially if Abram Smith pans out. Tony Jones, Jr. has flashed at times and knows the system well. And I don't get the lack of love for Ingram. And then there's Washington and Ozigbo. We usually don't keep more than three, maybe four, RB's on the 53 roster along with a single FB.

You could be right guido and all works out Ok. But Let’s say that one of these three things happen… Kamara is suspended (or gets hurt) or Ingram can’t hold up or Smith/Jones can’t cut it, then we are down to 2-3 backs to get us through a 17 game season. That’s not enough. It’s not “hatred” that makes fans worried that we don’t have enough at the position. Edit… Tony Jones has 57 career carries for a 2.8 yard average Abram Smith is an undrafted Rookie Ingram is 32 and averaged less than 4 ypc last year Ozigbo is unproven to put it mildly Now, considering Kamara didn’t make it through a full season last year, how can you not understand othe fan’s worries? |

There's not much more that can be done right now. Sure, you can add some non-vested player as an eighth training camp RB, but then you'll need to cut a player from another position. But come final cut day they'll all be released other than the base three RB's and one FB. I get your concern, but rosters are limited and you can't just stock away players on roster just for the sake of having them available. That's what makes it so complicated. There's only so many slots open. |

As for last year's RB numbers ... I go back to only one offensive lineman playing every game and he played two different positions last year. We can basically throw out last year. |

Re: 2022 New Orleans Saints roster breakdown: Running backs/fullbacks
Well, it's just July there's a lot of time to improve both RB and TE positions before the season begins. There was a Pierre Thomas, maybe there's another one hanging around now and we haven't seen him yet.
I kinda think DA is the victim of his successes he turned the weakness of the WR's as well as DB's into a strength so quickly (very possibly O-line as well) that people expect all positions settled as quickly. ![]() |
