Pete Werner played better than I expected last season, though. He plays "heads-up" football, showed some good short yardage coverage skills, fills gaps well, and even has a little closing speed. Not sure he has the sideline to sideline range that Kwon had.

I'm really hoping D'Marco Jackson becomes a real star. Everything you see on his college film looks like a star. He looked like the best player on the field a lot, which is what you expect from an athlete in the Sunbelt conference that makes it to the next level. But even against Miami he was dominant. Fingers crossed on this young man to come in and make a difference.

All the others are a coin flip. If we could get something for Baun, do it. Ellis is a special teamer. I don't know much about the other guys but Wilson did flash a little in Minnesota.
What some people don't see with Pete is that he doesn't guess on his assignments (1 missed tackle in 2021). Pete isn't nearly as athletically gifted as Kwon but was rarely out of position. Not a lot of talk or fanfare, just does his job.

As for Jackson, you may be right ... I think the coaches really like his college tape. We'll see.

Absent injury to Pete or Davis, I don't think Kwon makes a lot of sense given our cap, desire to develop our younger LBs & the Saints generally only have 2 on the field.

One of the most irritating things to me during the Mora tenure was that everyone, fans, other teams, pundits could see obvious flaws in Mora's game planning...

Loomis & FO not trying to actively move Baun to a 3-4 team, getting an asset back for depth, or even at TE or RB that could help us this year is similar frustration...

Exactly. Frustration is not realizing or RB group has big question marks. TE too. At least the WR group was addressed.

Werner is basically a younger, faster Scott Shanle...

And I'd rather have Kwon and not need him than need him and he not be available during the season...

As you say, We'll see as Training Camp and PreSeason unfolds...

Agree about the need/have point you make JP. Still scratching my head a little on why he’s not in camp if for nothing else but depth. Maybe Kwon wants a little too much money? Just a thought.

Exactly what I meant by "heads-up" football. You get it.

One thing to think about Boston, is that the team may be waiting for everything to check out around the league and see who is available at the right price before investing in what happened to be left over at the moment.

I too am worried about running back and tight end. However, DA has a pretty good plan so far. I'm willing to let it unfold and see how it develops.

I too am concerned about the running back and tight end positions. However, DA has put together pretty good plans so far. I'm willing to wait and see how things develop after cuts.
