Re: Jeff Nowak with the question of this offseason
I've never used the "ignore" feature. I've been told that ignoring a problem won't make it go away but for you I'll make an exception. You are a problem and you are indeed aware of it but you just won't go away.

Re: Jeff Nowak with the question of this offseason
I am happy for you that your life is so void of problems that you feel I am of some significance in comparison!

Re: Jeff Nowak with the question of this offseason
Guido holds to the idea that only saintfan and I have had issues with him.
Like Nowak says in his article “ I wouldn’t trust anyone who says no to the question”. Here is why… if a person was in the financial position that 10 Mill would not sway them in cheering for a team, then they are being short sighted and selfish to those they could make a difference to. Rather than act like a superfan douche who is above it all, they could donate the 10 mill to Gleason’s foundation or any of the other multiple player’s causes and do some good in the Organization’s name all for the price of acting like a Falcon, Niner, Bucs etc fan while deep inside they still pull for the Saints. So, saying “No”makes a person either dishonest or petty. I wouldn’t trust either one. |

I simply know with the exact scenario presented it would not be worth the personal sacrifice.
The whole scenario, however, deals with how willing a person is to sell their loyalty. There are several factors involved. My loyalty to the Saints is engrained to my core. It includes going to the games and sitting in the very seats I have waited to sit in for almost two decades. It involves doing whatever is needed to watch those games I cannot attend in person. It includes wearing some article of Saints themed clothing almost every day for over three decades. I'm not going to lie to myself and others by pretending to pull for another team and deny the pure pleasure of following the team I love just for some extra money that would just be used as some tax write-off or earning interest. An important part of our lives involve actively supporting the Saints. We gain a great deal of enjoyment from that and have worked hard to get to that point. The author, Jeff Novak, is shortsighted. He sees the world through the eyes of someone with most of their life in front of them. Someone who has most likely not experienced the sort of commitment that a deep down fan has enjoyed. Would you do it for $10? $100? $1,000? $10,000? $100,000? What is your point of no longer being a Saints fan? |

But, no. The point of the post was what it would take for you sell out on your team affiliation. Look at it this way. What is your greatest passion beside your family? Would you give that up forever for $10 million? I know people that have a passion for reading. I doubt they'd be willing to never read another book for $10 million. I know people who live for fishing. I know for certain many would never give it up forever for $10 million. The same with people who golf, sail, bike, hunt, collect cars, hike, cruise, travel, play poker, etc. That is their passion and they worked their whole lives to retire and enjoy that passion. Are they being selfish? Hell, yeah. And they have every right to be selfish. |
