Do you rest Winston?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; It’s probably not going to be a popular opinion, but I have no problem with what Miami did. I seriously doubt they had to twist Tua’s arm to have him play. He likely was fighting as hard as he could ...

He passed concussion protocols that the NFL and NFLPA set in place by mutual agreement. It was a rather freakish play that spun him down to the ground for a hard hit. I’ve seen no evidence or statement yet that the issues he had in the Sunday game and anything whatsoever to do with what happened Thursday night. This is a violent game played by the biggest, strongest, fastest athletes on the planet and Tua was an unfortunate, but very willing, participant.

I agree completely. The NFL has always been a violent, dangerous game. Dozens of rules have been put in place to make it less so. The critique pendulum rocks back and forth between the game becoming to soft and resembling two hand touch to being too uncaring and dismissive of the safety of the players. The game is what it is and the players all know what they have spent the early parts of their lives preparing for may bring. For this they are paid handsomely.
