Injury Report - Week 7 - Saints @ Cardinals

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Andrus Peat. An average player who is ALWAYS injured. And some folks were ragging on Terron Armstead. Peat is a guy you simply can't count on in those trenches....

Welcome to 2022 NFL football. I've never seen so many offensive linemen injured across the entire league. It's unreal. Points per game scored is at a 13 year low. And that's with all of the new rules favoring the offense.

There may be something said to the idea that when you practice hard you get stronger. I know when I go out and do an activity that I rarely do I get sore. So when I go out and play softball, or the Friday after Thanksgiving football game, or JetSki, I’m very sore afterwards. I probably would not be that way if I did any of those activities on a regular basis.

That may carry over to the highest level of athletics like these NFL football players are. When you cut preseason to three games it matters. When you practice at three-quarter power it matters. That’s to speak nothing of the Continuity that is necessary to keep an efficient offense going.

AG, this isn't a 2022 new thang for Andrus Peat.

In 8 seasons, has he played entire season? The answer is most likely NO. Someone reported he's been on season ending IR 3 out of 5 years.

Some of these guys need to hang around Malcolm Jenkins, Demario or Cam Jordan a little more.

Peat is an average & inconsistent player who can't stay healthy.

He’s Davenport on the OLine.

I'd guess that you're referring to his injury history and not his talent?

Saints Injury Roundup: Marcus Maye Upgraded, Others Stay Same on Tuesday

Alontae Taylor was out there after tweeting 'ready coach' yesterday. Payton Turner was also out there, while Calvin Throckmorton was taking left guard snaps. Andy Dalton was taking primary reps at quarterback.

I agree. I'm just pointing out that this is becoming quite common across the league. It's happening with other common players. It's happening to career backups. It's happening to All Pros. Not sure why, but what can anyone do about it other than rolling with the punches?

However, you sound like you are saying this is something that they are doing wrong and they can somehow "learn" not to get injured. Injuries happen. I doubt you are more pissed off about it than is the player themselves. I get your frustration, but as Boston mentioned somewhere recently, **** happens.

Re: Injury Report - Week 7 - Saints @ Cardinals

The Ravens gave some veterans a rest day. We are missing multiple key starters who came into the season with injury histories that optimists said did not matter. Our injury issues are not an accident. We covet and reward injury prone players. We are one of the oldest teams in the league. We stay old through multiple Loomis strategies. We frequently trade multiple draft picks for one so that while most teams gain 7 young players each draft we gain 3-4. We let healthy players go in their prime then resign them when they are old and washed up thinking they are the same player.

If Michael Thomas gets healthy and performs we should trade him while we can. If he doesnt we should cut him this offseason and pray he signs with a division rival.

We also play on artificial turf and have lousy doctors.

Injuries beget injuries. When you have an old team with many brittle starters and one goes down it forces others into new assignments and unfamiliar roles and breaks down protection, leading to more injuries, making the newly injured players more subject to injury in the future.
