Simply luckier than us. Eventually every player in the NFL will suffer an injury. As they say, the NFL is a 100% injury league. If anything truly contributes it might be our playing surface.

The league may have to address that sooner rather than later. It seems that more injuries occur on turf then on natural grass.

Some grass can be just as bad, however. Did you see how bad the natural grass surface was in the Super Bowl? Players were slipping all over the place.

So you're really saying Saints missed on NOT hiring Doug Peterson, even though they supposedly actually interviewed him ?

Makes me wonder IF SP passed along to DA some secret pictures or something as leverage. Not seriously, of course. It just boggles the mind, doesn't it though?

Urban Meyer was Jags head coach in 2021. Well, for the first 12 games, then Darrell Bevell replaced him.

IMO not hiring Doug was a big miss + he's from the Andy Reid "brain trust". .531 winning percentage & 5-3 post-season career winning percentage as HC.

Did you notice the improvement with Trevor L @ QB? Good enough to take the Jags to the playoffs in season 1. Oh, and Doug has skins on the wall.

Dennis Allen was about as LAZY as a Saints hire you can get . The man is in over his head as HC.

"Just keep doing what you're doing" - 7-10 x-( And here we are.

You are assuming that Pederson WANTED to become head coach of the Saints. Yes, he interviewed, but I have always heard that for experienced coaches those interviews are bilateral. The coach is checking out the club as much as the club is checking out them. The Saints' QB situation was in flux. The Jags had a young #1 pick at QB. The Jags also had the #1 overall pick in the 2022 draft.

I'll bet you that if Pederson had wanted the Saints job after the interview they would have pulled the trigger. The money wouldn't matter for the richest person in Louisiana (Gayle).

While there may be some truth to that, he did interview. So the interest was there and mutual. And he didn't need to interview if it wasn't. Yet they did no push for him as KC did for Andy Reid when he left Philly. Doug Peterson's Louisiana ties would've made it an even more special story.

It's the same argument for not drafting Mahomes, really. Saints have a history of using two number 1s to move up. Yet, they didn't for Mahomes, but did it for others.

In the end it's yet another failure by the Saints front office. I'd love for DA to come through for us and make us all eat crow. We all want nothing but the best for our beloved team. It feels as if we got lucky with SP and Brees, and that the ride is completely over.

We'll have to see what portends for us this year. :bng:

I believe you, Smash. However, I honestly believe that others want nothing more than for Dennis Allen and the Saints to fail miserably. It's like it has become personal with that group. And I'm not just talking about some members here. I'm seeing the same vitriol being aimed the same direction on other social media platforms.

As for the ride being over, to a certain degree it absolutely is. Brees was one of the greatest to ever play the game. Payton made the perfect compliment to Brees. I doubt we'll ever see the same level of success. That doesn't mean I don't believe we can win championships again, it just means not with that level offense.
