Let's not forget, it was Vitt himself, not Payton, that was on the Vicodin. He had to go through a recovery program because of it. When the rumors came out that a high ranking coach on the Saints was involved with Vicodin some web hacks made the incorrect assumption that it was Payton. When the truth came out the lazy hacks had already plastered the misinformation to the point that the unknowing readers had already accepted it as fact. Especially Falcons fans.
An all too common occurrence with social media and one of my pet peeves. Back in my newspaper days we always made it a point that anything we published was accurate as was humanly possible. Things have really changed in that world. |
