Did you notice the improvement with Trevor L @ QB? Good enough to take the Jags to the playoffs in season 1. Oh, and Doug has skins on the wall.

Dennis Allen was about as LAZY as a Saints hire you can get . The man is in over his head as HC.

Makes me wonder IF SP passed along to DA some secret pictures or something as leverage. Not seriously, of course. It just boggles the mind, doesn't it though?
You are assuming that Pederson WANTED to become head coach of the Saints. Yes, he interviewed, but I have always heard that for experienced coaches those interviews are bilateral. The coach is checking out the club as much as the club is checking out them. The Saints' QB situation was in flux. The Jags had a young #1 pick at QB. The Jags also had the #1 overall pick in the 2022 draft.

I'll bet you that if Pederson had wanted the Saints job after the interview they would have pulled the trigger. The money wouldn't matter for the richest person in Louisiana (Gayle).

While there may be some truth to that, he did interview. So the interest was there and mutual. And he didn't need to interview if it wasn't. Yet they did no push for him as KC did for Andy Reid when he left Philly. Doug Peterson's Louisiana ties would've made it an even more special story.

It's the same argument for not drafting Mahomes, really. Saints have a history of using two number 1s to move up. Yet, they didn't for Mahomes, but did it for others.

In the end it's yet another failure by the Saints front office. I'd love for DA to come through for us and make us all eat crow. We all want nothing but the best for our beloved team. It feels as if we got lucky with SP and Brees, and that the ride is completely over.

We'll have to see what portends for us this year.

I believe you, Smash. However, I honestly believe that others want nothing more than for Dennis Allen and the Saints to fail miserably. It's like it has become personal with that group. And I'm not just talking about some members here. I'm seeing the same vitriol being aimed the same direction on other social media platforms.

As for the ride being over, to a certain degree it absolutely is. Brees was one of the greatest to ever play the game. Payton made the perfect compliment to Brees. I doubt we'll ever see the same level of success. That doesn't mean I don't believe we can win championships again, it just means not with that level offense.

Maybe Payton expects a lot of headaches this year and wants to make sure he has a steady Vicodin supply.

I'm sure that Vitt has not forgotten what he went through. Recovering addicts remember their histories as a necessity. It doesn't mean they cannot move on with their lives.

Let's not forget, it was Vitt himself, not Payton, that was on the Vicodin. He had to go through a recovery program because of it. When the rumors came out that a high ranking coach on the Saints was involved with Vicodin some web hacks made the incorrect assumption that it was Payton. When the truth came out the lazy hacks had already plastered the misinformation to the point that the unknowing readers had already accepted it as fact. Especially Falcons fans.

An all too common occurrence with social media and one of my pet peeves. Back in my newspaper days we always made it a point that anything we published was accurate as was humanly possible. Things have really changed in that world.
