My guess is that the Saints came up with an NFL Draft Trade Value Chart number that has to include at least a 1st rounder. Let's say 4000 points.

The only thing that stands in the way is the ownership and front office. They are one of the most dysfunctional in the league. Payton has repeatedly said those are his highest priorities. Who knows, maybe their offer to him will be rich enough.
