I haven't thought about a heeler since I left the ranch as a young man. Thanks for the memories. Have you ever been to a rodeo? For us growing up it was a regular past time. The side arm is a quick release. I would think that it's similar mechanics whether you're roping or throwing a football.

I was born and raised in South Dakota until age nine when we were transferred to Louisiana in 1967. Half of my mom's family were, and still are, big time into rodeo. Google the Duxbury family in South Dakota. They're all either in state politics and/or cattle ranching to this day. My grandpa Lloyd wore a western hat and boots every day of his life. Believe it or not, my son gave me a new lasso for Christmas. He thought it was a gag gift, but I love it. Still working on trying to break it in. Any input, guys? Hard to stretch it without a horse. |
