When you have a trip planned for a Sunday noon game that gets flexed to Thursday it would be extremely difficult to make the game. You'd have to take off work, reschedule hotels and/or flights. If you couldn't do that not only would you be forced to miss the game, but you'd have to try to sell the tickets. Thursday night tickets are not as desirable as a Sunday noon game for the same reasons as above.
The NFL doesn't care about the fans. Just their money!

On the whole, yes, but they are getting pushback on this and one of their strongest owners, John Mara, is making pretty much the same argument against the flexing that I shared above. I heard yesterday that there may be at least a couple of owners that were originally in favor of the flexing that may be changing their minds after getting major blow back. They had 22 in favor at first. It takes 24 to pass the flex proposal.
