I know it seems that WhoDat and I are always playing devils advocate, but I sincerely feel we have dropped the ball this offseason. I hope for the best, but for god\'s sake you have to satisfy the needs of the team. We had a powerful offense and a holes on our defense. I am being kind. We have not adequately addressed the issues. The only thing I hope for out of the draft is picking up veterans and giving up some picks. If we will start winning we could attract better players.

wd, i\'ll take that bet.........and because there is that slight chance, no, slim chance that we may disagree on best available or need player, i\'m willing to let the people who post here decide who wins...........no arguement as to final outcome, we pay up when all is said and done..............smitty

Thanks WhoDat, you just made my point for me.
\"if it were your money on the line you\'d probably put it on a guys who has proven that he can play in this league year in and year out. I would.\"
THAT is EXACTLY what I\'m getting at. Why should we ever draft anyone? It just does not make sense given your logic. You can\'t even see the brilliance in what you\'re saying. Why buy something that you may need to wait on. Buy something that\'s an NFL proven commodity...\"year in and year out\". If you\'re not against drafting players, you should be. I\'m all for not drafting players. Let\'s trade our 1st rounder and whatever other draft picks we can every year for proven players that we need. All kidding aside, this honestly makes more sense to me than you think.

Actually, I do understand what you\'re saying. To a degree, I do agree with you. I think we could\'ve done more to improve the team in FA so far too. But, we didn\'t. So we move on. The draft\'s around the corner. The off-season is still just that.....the off-season. It\'s not over. They\'ve got their plan and I think it\'s a good one. Perfect? No. Good? Yes. You summed it up...the difference is that you\'re not optimistic. I am. It\'s cool tho....a majority of Saint fans have been conditioned over the years to act like a Pavlovian dog. They (yes, me too at times) tend to look at the glass as being moist rather than being half full when it comes to looking at the team and seeing any sort of a realistic bright future.

Dean Vernon Wormer: Mr. Hoover, president of Delta house? One point six; four C's and an F. A fine example you set! Daniel Simpson Day... HAS no grade point average. All courses incomplete. Mr. Blu - MR. BLUTARSKY... ZERO POINT ZERO.
John 'Bluto' Blutarsky: Christ. Seven years of college down the drain. Might as well join the f@$%ing Peace Corps.

Hey Pak - you may be Yoda, but I made somebody else\'s footer!!! Billy loves me so much, and believes that I am such a wealth of information, that he uses my quote to sign all of his posts. How about that?

Billy - I love the draft. It\'s a great way to bring in players that can make a difference down the line. However, I prefer free agency when you\'re filling holes. Let me put my thinking to you another way.

I just got a new job, which I have to drive to... but I don\'t own a car. Now, I have the money to buy a 2000 volvo or a fancy new solar powered kit car. The solar powered kit car might be a lot cheaper to operate and, if everything goes as planned, it could work out much better for me over the long-haul. However, it\'s going to take me time to put the thing together, learn how to drive this fancy new thing, etc. Me, I take the volvo, b/c my job is on the line. It sounds to me like some people here take the risk on the solar powered car.

Now, let me give you a different scenario... I just got a new job, which I have to drive to, AND I already own a Camry. Now, I have the choice of buying a volvo or a fancy new solar powered car... in this case I take the solar car. Hey, there\'s no rush for me to get it to work and if it takes time, that\'s OK. But everntually it could replace my Camry and work out much better for me.... get it? Fill needs with things that are reliable... things that you can judge based on a track record. Use fancy new things with potential as (HOPEFULLY) future replacements for what you\'ve got now.

Subguy - Are you saying that I\'m a life hating cynic? Jeez man, I thought you were on my side.

Thank goodness Subguy, I thought I lost you there for a minute. I was going to have to ask Pak to help me use the force to bring you back from the dark side.
