The Ravens and Dolphins got to the postseason with backups at QB.

Have you seen Brock Purdy play yet ? The Niners lost Jimmy G in early December and haven't missed a beat offensively.

Coaching is the biggest question mark in New Orleans right now.

2023 could be rough.
I totally agree that we cannot blame the season on injuries but could possibly blame it on the coaching. We absolutely need better depth. That may be a consequence of trading picks to move up for a valued player. We have to have some major coaching changes this offseason. Shake things up. We've done well bringing in good college coaches so let's look there again.

True that the Niners lost Jimmy G, but for the most part the rest of their offense was pretty well intact AND they added Christian McCaffrey just as they started their run. The Niners are good but they didn't face anywhere near the deep run on injuries that the Saints faced. Just look at the defending Super Bowl Champion, Rams, who finished far worse than the Saints. Injuries destroyed their season, as well.

I understand not placing all of the blame on injuries, but it is just as shortsighted to ignore injuries as a major factor in the team's struggles.

Re: This team is really bad

The The Bengals likely lost a third starting offensive lineman in the space of a month when left tackle Jonah Williams departed in the second quarter with a left knee injury.

The Ravens sacked Joe Burrow four times on Sunday, the most since he was sacked five times by the Browns on Halloween in the most recent game Cincinnati lost before its current nine-game win streak.
That's right! The Bengals haven't lost a game since October 31st! despite having their Offensive Line decimated by INJURIES!

Boom.

Lol, some like to use injuries (2+ seasons) for taking L’s on Sundays.

At some point if the same players keep getting injured it isn't unlucky. Just poor roster management

Good teams find a way to win. No truer statement on this thread!

I'm looking at this season like we were served up some bad Gumbo... easy to blame one bad ingredient (roux, veggies, meats, spices, etc.) when there are a few that the cook could have used better to tweak it to make it better... or even good! Sometimes, you're better off throwing out the pot and starting over (which costs you time and more than a little money). But sometimes, you can use what's in your kitchen and make it into something really good.

...gotta have the right cooks to put it all together though!

It is 100% coaching.

Before anyone gets their knickers in a knot, I could care less about blame for a symptom, treating symptoms fixes nothing. Taking aspirin for a fever does nothing to treat the underlying condition causing the fever.

I view things in terms of accountability and who is responsible for the product that is put on the field. Penalties are not a problem, they are a symptom of the underlying problem of poor mental conditioning. Predictable play calling is not the problem, it is the symptom of a lack of football imagination. Inefficient personnel utilization is not the problem, it is a symptom of talent ignorance. You know how we are often reminded of how some players go to other teams and find greatness? That is a symptom of talent ignorance and not knowing how to use what you have.

Now, if we are not prepared emotionally or mentally to hold the coaches accountable for performance on the field, what are they needed for? Mrs. Benson can hire anyone off the street for a fraction of the compensation to hold a clipboard.

Before I click submit reply, the GM is responsible for the coaches and he needs to go as well. The Payton/Brees era was an alignment of stars so to speak, not a string of strategic decisions that Loomis can repeat (or he would have).

It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see. ~ Henry David Thoreau
