Crazy how they just drafted a QB (Wilson), in 1st round of 2021 and are already in the market to replace him.

Hoping to find the next Pat Mahomes, Burrow or JAllen is like searching for a needle in a hay stack.

Hid an injury? I believe you are very mistaken, Smash. The back injury (transverse process fractures) was public knowledge immediately after the injury occurred. There were comparisons to the exact same injury suffered by Tony Romo and others. Here's an article referencing the back injury before the week two game against the Bucs on September 18.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston is set to play Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with four fractures in his back, per Fox's Jay Glazer.

Winston is in "a lot of pain" and will be wearing extra padding to protect the area, Glazer added. Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com also noted the veteran signal-caller has been in pain "all week."

Winston took a hit in the fourth quarter of a Week 1 win over the Atlanta Falcons and was checked out in the medical tent before returning to the Saints bench. After the game, he said he was in pain.

When asked where the pain was, Winston responded: "Just pain. It was pain everywhere."

The 28-year-old, who was limited in practice all week, was initially listed for Sunday's matchup as questionable with a back injury. He told reporters Wednesday (h/t ProFootballTalk's Josh Alper) that he was still "getting over some first game soreness."

Winston has been riddled by injuries over the last two seasons.

Precisely why this is a TEAM game. Build a great team amd the QB needn't be a Mahomes. This has been proven time and time again .

Yes, the injury precedes this report. Jameis admitted recently that it was concealed.

Concealed from who and when? The fact that he had suffered four fractures to the lower back area on September 11th was known by everyone later the very next week prior to the Tampa Bay game on September 18th. That article was published within days of the injury. Dr. David Chou was on NFL Radio that same week talking about Winston's fractures. He was the one comparing the injury to Romo's. The Saints did a damned crappy job of concealing something by immediately reporting it to the press. LOL!

I believe you are simply mistaken, Smash, about what Winston supposedly admitted recently. Or more likely, the source that you got that totally erroneous information from was wrong.

Edit: What might have been being referred to was that the team concealed the fact that it was a back injury from the Falcons during the game after leaving the blue tent. Now that would be accurate and make sense. That's probably where the confusuion lies.

If Winston stays, I draft McCall
If we get Carr at a reasonable rate I still draft McCall
If Winston goes and Carr price tag is to high I go with Mayfield ( should come cheap and still draft McCall.
The only high price FA is Carr, I really don't see the downfall going forward.
I believe with a really good O line, the WR core+1, add a stud TE and 2 rookie RB's (I could get it done, not really but what the he!!) any of those qb.'s would be good enough to make it happen.

We don't have the depth to have a good offensive line like you mentioned and it's a glaring weakness. We have Michael Olave and and an undrafted free agent with potential, but still no depth and no possession receiver. As you mentioned, we need a stud tight end and a couple of running backs as well.

We still have to fill the offensive guard, safety, defensive tackle, defensive end and shore up the corners. Not to mention we need a quarterback. That's an awful lot to fill in this one draft. Maybe we get another draft like 2017 and can get our salary cap under control. As long as we don't draft defensive end in the first round I'll be fine. Their last few picks have been questionable at best.

Rugs, there are really good rb.'s to be had in the middle to later rounds, that part should be easy. The first or 2nd round I grab Peats replacement and a DT in the late 2nd early 3rd. The TE is what I'm having a hard time with, maybe a good FA gets cut. There is a monster of a guy at DT could be had in the late 2nd / early 3rd that should shore up the middle. lb's resigning Ellis gives us a really good middle and on the backend I could see another S added to the mix. In the later rounds we should get some depth in the trenches on the O side. I really want McCall drafted in the 3rd or 4th, he should make a good backup qb. until he gets the system down. Of coarse Allen will go in a different direction and we'll go thru another season of dismal play if he don't get his head out of his a$$ but hopefully I'm totally wrong. I doubt it but here's to wishing.

The more I think about it, the more I’m leaning towards passing on Carr and rolling with Winston. We can use that money in FA along with the draft to primarily fill the OL,DL, and RB positions. Also gotta shore up safety as well. I’m not sure Carr with a bunch of rookies and cheap FAs is gonna do much.
