Well there’s a lot of speculation on CGM due to some of his actions, and understandably so, however I feel comfortable saying this…

1- he’s a fierce competitor and a stud when healthy and he knows it. He’d much rather be on the field doing what he loves and making defenders look silly.

2- I haven’t seen or read anywhere he’s a locker room cancer despite his altercation with Chauncey in practice. This organization has proven they will not tolerate locker room cancers.

3- His injuries were un-preventable and unfortunate and when healthy, he no doubt makes our offensive more dangerous.

That being said, hopefully this contract is much better for the team and incentive heavy

Man, if Thomas could come back and play half the games I would be happy just getting to watch him get first downs again then flexing his biceps before going back to the huddle.

Yup. The only way they know to "manage the cap". They haven't caught on yet. They use the "cut your best players" philosophy instead of the "keep your players" strategy of recovering cap space.

I’ve also noticed a lot of teams don’t structure their contracts how we do to even have that option available to them.

Nope. But over the past few years those structures are beginning to pop up. I'm starting to see more and more roster bonuses being written into new deals and more 2nd and 3rd inflated salaries that can be converted. But, yes, there's still several that haven't bitten the bullet yet.

Yep. Khai Harley's accounting methods are being implemented all over the NFL now. Those roster bonuses are the killer if you pay off the entire debt at the end of the contract. Which is how we roll. If Gayle wasn't willing to write the checks though, this wouldn't work. It may be the reason for several notoriously cheap franchises not adopting the newest NFL model of living on the credit card and worrying about the bills when they come due.
