this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Did Haener win QB2? Kendre Miller is good. Lalos and Shaq Davis show us something. Summers too. Overall interesting and a good eval for those players trying to make the team. Can the Saints go 23-0 ?...

Re: Observations from Saint's victory vs Chargers
We have some legit receiving threats. Penning is disappointing. Really impressed by Haener. Too many penalties. Didn't watch every minute but were there any injuries?
The fact NY can call a player off the field at their descression is absolute B.S. Haener looked fine after that hit. |

We talked about this last season numerous time... discipline doesn't seem to be on Allen's radar. If the coach doesn't drive it, and the veterans do not have it, the rookies have no place to get it.

Re: Observations from Saint's victory vs Chargers
The way Haener threw the ball tonite should answer a lot of questions on his place with the team. 11-17 118 yards could have been much better if Krull could have hung on to 2 very well placed throws.
I liked his pocket presence, scrambling ability and decision making. His arm is stronger than it’s been portrayed and his throw are accurate or placed where only his guy can get to it. Jameis … one great throw then throws it into quadruple coverage in the end zone. That kind of mind numbing play is just not acceptable … preseason or not. He shows no pocket presence, never seems to be in the same place so his coverage breaks down and when the first read does not happen, it ain’t pretty. |

Re: Observations from Saint's victory vs Chargers
Jameis Winston is laughing all the way to bank. We don’t save a penny if we cut him so he is guaranteed to make the team. Then in 2024 we owe $11 million if he walks, so Loomis will likely offer him more to stay and defer the cap hit.
Nick Kroll does not have what it takes to play TE in the NFL. We should go young at WR. There is more upside. Andrus Peat should have been playing for his job today. Giving him the game off sends the wrong message. As a pass rusher Foskey has the killer instinct to close plays of a cast member at a haunted house pretending like he might grab someone. Haener makes quick decisions, hits the seems, and is accurate on many throws. Winston is clumsy on the short and intermediate stuff so teams dont have to respect that and he has to throw into double coverage or worse deep. But like I said his contract makes Winston a Saint for life. He may be alright with our starting receivers who are better jump ball deep threats. The refs showed once again they will screw us. This has to count minus 2-3 wins for our season. Chargers MVP: Refs Saints MVP: Easton Stick |
