This is a count of PED violations only prior to the publication in February 2022.

Since 2001, NFL players have been suspended for performance-enhancing drugs and related substances at least 258 times, including at least 82 times in the past five years, according to a newly published database compiled by USA TODAY Sports. The violations have affected every team in the league and every position on the field, including players who have been named to the Pro Bowl and even long snappers, quarterbacks and at least one placekicker.

There were seven more in 2022 and five more to date in 2023.

I swear it's getting to the point that these players can't walk through a CVS, or even a Kroger, without rubbing up against something that will trigger a positive test. There has to be a happy medium. Just because a substance is on a banned list doesn't mean it is at a high enough level in the body to actually "enhance performance."
