I tend to agree. I don’t mind Carr. I really expected more from him so far though. But I expected more from this team as a whole as well.

He ain’t quite “It”, just like our Head Coach, and y’all know it. You’re just being too kind.

I disagree. I think Carr could do really well with the right coaches teaching him.

Re: Time to Hire Gruden

I'm not sure how much more film study anyone needs to see.

The problem is Pete Carmichael.

How does DCarr go from #1 QBR in play action (2021) to almost last in 2023? Once we get to the red zone (12 trips, 4 tds), we put it in neutral.

There are 2 more teams left to play tonight as we close out week 4, but the Saints are staring at the #32 ranking in the red zone.

Unacceptable.

When you have MT, Olave, Shaheed, AK, Hill, Graham (6'7), DCarr & consistently rank near the bottom or last offensively ... not really sure how this man can keep his job.

This team is full of players that have proven themselves in this league as good players, some great. All of a sudden they all suck? I'm thinking it ain't the players as much as its the coaching (scheming and play calling).

This team is under-achieving massively. Thats gotta be coaching right?

We don’t have that. And it’s not looking like it’s about to change any time soon.

Have you seen what Eric has already done with Sam Howell so far?

Saints coaching stinks in all phases on Metairie Dr. I see low energy from players, bad body language, and getting embarrassed by a divisional foe in our own house.

Pete Carmichael is a terrible play-caller. Very little play-action & predictable on 3rd downs.

Getting torched by Baker Mayfield ? Good lord.

IMO we are in trouble.

Carr actually has a pretty good completion percentage. We just don't move the chains, mainly because of the playcalling. You don't send everyone to the endzone when you only need 4 yards. You keep picking up first downs and reset your chances; this establishes a rhythm. Carmichael is either overthinking or underthinking. They gave us the underneath routes for the majority of the game. We never went there though and didn't have routes there. We just had drop-off routes and deep patterns. You attack what the defense gives you and get first downs along the way. Carmichael is also the worst red-zone play-caller I've ever seen.
This all day long!

[quote=Mr.Riaton;982109]I don’t think this team needs to be blown up, but it’s time for some coaching changes beginning with Carmichael. I think this team has plenty of youth and talent and I’m pretty happy with the moves they’ve made to get us to this point as far as the team as a whole is concerned.

There is a lot of blame to go around right now.

Re: Time to Hire Gruden

I still want Gruden. Watching the Niners demoralize the Cowboys last night with a great offensive playcaller that gets mad at his players when they make mistakes was reminiscent of the Payton years. Gruden would bring that fire back.
