Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread
Glad it’s the other quarterback getting constantly blasted.

Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread
We have a Defense… or at least against this offense, we do.
|
Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread
Good half. Glad to see some production. Regardless of who it’s against.

Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread
21-0 We finally score in the red zone. We are using motion and screens. Our defense is all about three and outs. Sacks come in bunches. I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue!

Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread
Would have like one more score there, especially as the Pats get the ball.
Don't go quiet offense, keep the pedal down. |

Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread
This half could not have gone better. It's all you can ask that we are not just winning but dominating. But also the context is it's against a 1-3 team coming off a 38-3 defeat in which they lost their best player for the season and has $179 million more 2024 salary cap space than us to improve next year. Realistically we should be competing with this team for head coaching hires in 3-4 months and they will have the higher draft pick and more cap space to remake the roster while we will have the closer to .500 record. So hopefully this game does not earn DA and ML extensions before we see how the next few games go.

Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread
3 positive and negatives of the half.
Positive 1. O-Line 2. D-Line 3. Blocking and Tackling Negative 1. Carr’s best half of season but he’s been bailed out by our WR’s on at least 3 passes. 2. Penalties. Adebo is AVGing a PI per game. 3. Kamara running out of bounds. Becoming a thing. |

Still only 14 points for the offense. I would really like to see use break the 30 point barrier in offensive scoring, but I'll take 14 more points in the 2nd half.

Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread
Fumble! Cam!
|
Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread

|
Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread

Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread
Aaand the offense is back to lame.

Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread
Bad time for a sack but Grupe hits a 54 yard kick! 10 of 11
|
Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread

Penalties fall squarely on our coaching.

Rashid usually makes up for his mistakes. A TD will do it.

Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread
Thinking about it further, there could be an argument for what Bill Belichick is doing as a GM. The Patriots have a lot of cap space, all their draft picks, and had a good defense until they lost their best player in Matt Judon last week. The theory would be that you take a shot on a young QB, make sure that young QB is actually good, and you delay on investing big in offensive weapons until you are sure actually have the QB. Once you get the QB, you spend the cash to win now. So although the Patriots have been mediocre to bad for a few years, they haven't broke the bank to be mediocre like we have, they have a war chest ready for when they have the right QB to bet the war chest on. They will likely take another shot at a new QB in the next draft.
The problems with this strategy are that maybe you destroy your teams winning tradition while you wait (but maybe you destroy that anyway if you bet everything on Mac Jones when he has shown you nothing and break the bank to get him weapons). The second problem is that the Patriots have seemed to miss on getting Jones discount weapons to avoid breaking the bank. From N'Keal Harry to Schuster Smith to Parker to Elliott the Patriots could be said to be wasting whatever budget they do have on discount garbage. Then again, maybe its Jones making them look like garbage. I could see an argument for the Patriots or another team keeping Belichick around as a GM, though his days as a coach are done I think. But the other problem is he is not brining in good assistants to modernize the plays or challenge him, he is bringing in the good ole boys he has worked with in the past. Much like us. So I think his conservative spending philosophy at this stage may be sound, but his conservative staffing of assistants is not. |

So the offense sucks again now
|
Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread
Guess it was nice for a half.
|
Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread
The conservatism of this squad is annoying.
|
Re: Saints at Patriots LIVE Gameday Thread
THAT DRIVE SUCKED. WE NEED CONTINUITY!
In almost any other game, that drive would be very hurtful! |

Schuster took a hard hit twice in one play. I hope he's ok.
