But I’ve been a fan since ‘85, so I’ve seen darker days, but not as dark as others. Show me any franchise that doesn’t see their team not be the cream of the crop anywhere in their history please. NE was a dynasty for 20 years and look at them now. Your whining is tiresome, and you seriously stalk Guido on a daily basis. I thought you were actually saintfan before he even brought it up. You’re worse than what you cry about on a daily basis.
While these may not be the rarest darkest days, what is really rare about the Saints right now is how glaringly the deny any self-criticism and stay saccharine positive after every crappy performance, loss, and scraping by against bad teams with 4th quarter rallies. In the past, coaches like Mora and Ditka seemed somehow upset by losing. This front office and coaching staff eat **** with a grin. I think that is why you see some fans being more negative than in the past, even when we may not be in darker days. We don't see the team taking any responsibility for their product, so we are left to call them out. If DA would take some responsibility, get in front of a mic, and admit that if he doesn't win a playoff game with all the talent on this team, with his power on decisions, and with all the money the team is spending, he probably doesn't deserve to stay on as HC, I would call him a brave man and cheer him on the rest of the year to achieve that brave goal of winning a playoff game. But he doesn't do that. Instead DA and Loomis insist nothing is wrong, that they have the right people and just need to keep doing what they are doing, and personally insult fans like me who demand results, saying we are part of some microwave society that does not appreciate the need to chop wood. I don't want to pay to watch you chop wood. Just take some responsibility, be angry about losing, and us fans can be less angry and be fans again. The problem is that DA and Loomis are being true happy go lucky fans, not leaders, which forces fans to be the leaders calling for accountability in the face of a clear obvious leadership vacuum. The mediocre performances are not rare, the leadership and accountability vacuum is. These are the darkest days for accountability.

Soundly, yes. But I'll be impressed if we beat the Rams.
As they always say, "You can only play who's in front of you." And they also say, "Any given Sunday (or Thursday) any team in the NFL can beat any other."

I’ll be here, happily set to “ignore” by any Pollyanna that poops inside their cheerleader underwear week after mediocre week. I’ll be here until this team puts the right people in the building, and if and when that happens, where I can feel the excitement of a Brees/Colston or even a Brooks/Horn type game, I’ll be here. It’s just a freaking game, and a real fan expects to have fun with it.

Sorry, but using Ditka as an example doesn't do much to help your argument. His 15-33 (.313) record as the Saints head coach is worse than either Allen's Saints' record (14-17 .452) or his overall record (22-45 .328).

Not that I'm a proponent of Allen's, but setting the "record" straight.

I'll give you Mora, however.

At least Ditka had a personality. It matters at that position. At least we could have some fun watching the sidelines, while we suck on the field.

I'd take Ditka over Allen any day.
