This is what I have been thinking all along. I think all of this angst about wanting Allen gone from some fans is wasted energy. What's going to happen will happen and what we do with the remainder of this season should have no effect.

Tomlin will not come cheap, he still has a year left on his contract and the Steelers would likely leverage that for some draft picks.

They can't leverage anything if they let him go. When a coach is fired the team forfeits any rights. Payton quit on his own so the Saints retained his rights. I just can't see any scenario where Tomlin would willingly walk away from the Steelers job.
Coaches get let go all the time and can go anywhere they want right away. I would imagine the vast majority coaches have time left on their contracts when cut loose. |
