this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Tomlin has lost the Steelers and some players aren't even trying anymore. I'm not sure that he's the guy....

Kinda noticed that with their young talented receiver Pickens.

Canada was holding that offense back but they still have other issues & have already benched their backup (Trubisky) QB.

Coaches get let go all the time and can go anywhere they want right away. I would imagine the vast majority coaches have time left on their contracts when cut loose.
I understand the differences, I don't believe the Steelers will fire Tomlin, at least not right away. Tomlin will need to either walk or play out his final year of his contract.

From what I'm hearing (via NFL Radio mainly) it's the team and not Tomlin that may have inklings of moving on. That is if there is anything to it beyond the same old nearing the end of the year clickbait. I see no reason why he wouldn't want to play out his contract.

From what I've also been hearing Bill Belichick and Dan Quinn may be the most likely candidates out there.

Speaking of "clickbait", I just saw that Florio has put your scenario out there with this article.

I think we could do worse than Tomlin and wouldn't be opposed to it. That said, I agree with neugey. The Saints would probably be outbid.

I also just read that if Tomlin becomes available Chicago will be willing to do whatever it takes to get him. That price could be way up there. Few people have the liquid capital that Gayle Benson enjoys. Even other NFL owners.

It's time for all new young blood with creative ideas. The NFL evolves. Some coaches can evolve and other can't. Let's go get someone young from a proven system.

Youth is key here. It’s clear to see that Masters like Belichick or Tomlin have periods where everything clicks and they themselves have a fire, then it fades or passes. Unfortunately, our current excuse has neither fire or youth or any special presence at all, so these more legendary old cats might seem attractive, but we need something completely new.
