Way too early 2024 mock draft

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I just hope we move in a different direction on who is signing off on these DEs on draft night. Davenport, Payton Turner, Foskey ( remember him ?) ... suspect picks....

I don't think we will draft a DE because the front office just signed off on unnecessary early extensions for both Jordan and Granderson who both underachieved. Also Foskey in the 2nd round and Turner appear to be busts. So drafting DE in the 1st round would draw attention to their mistakes. They would rather talk up the potential of the guys they have. If they absolutely had to draft a DE they would move Granderson or Jordan to DT as a PR thing.

Drafting a Tackle would be safer for the front office since we don't have an expensive player at LT and our RT is facing career threatening injuries they can blame on bad luck even though it was forseeable.

I am against drafting TE in the early first round because only one in the history of the NFL has ever been a difference maker for the cost, Tony Gonzalez. Most sure thing cant miss 1st round TE are busts. But the front office is dumb and may do it.

QB will probably not be drafted in the 1st for the same reason as DE, it draws attention to Carr's dumb contract.

I'd shy away from TE too.

LT, RT, DT and BPA at CB/S/WR/OG and a late round kicker or punter if we don't address them in free agency

Saints need two of everything.

And a new punter.

I'd prefer Michigan's Aussie punter over the Saints Aussie punter for sure. CB will be a huge need if the Saints do indeed trade the best CB they've ever had in Lattimore. Man, that would suck.

A rugby kick is harder to field than a regular kick. The ball tumbles differently in the air and makes catching it on the run tougher to pull off. I'm satisfied with our Aussie punter. There are schools now for punters that teach the rugby kick and we are seeing more of it in college now than ever.

His punting might look awkward to an American football fan that is unfamiliar with that style of kicking. Rather than punting straight through the ball, Hedley steps to the side and kicks it from a different body position sending the ball off at a different angle.

Lou Hedley doesn't out kick his coverage teams. He consistently pins opponents inside the twenty and makes them drive the length of the field. My only concern is that him holding for kicks might be the reason we missed some easy field goals this year. It's not something he was familiar with when he came here. Laces Out!

That might be a job for Julie Haener's son next season.

I felt like it should have been Taysom's job all along.

Almost every young guy had a friend with a mom who's house we loved to go over and hang out whenever possible. She always had something cool or hot to drink, snacks, and there was always lots of things to do.

I'm pretty sure that Julie Haener had a full kitchen of happy young boys coming over after school and spending all afternoon at their house. But the best thing about hanging out with your friend was getting to look at his smoking hot mother! Does anyone remember the video and the song Stacey's mom?

I was raised on a ranch in high school. So, there was nowhere close to hang out with that wasn't with a relative without going into town. But, when l went to college I had a good friend, Tim, whose mom was absolutely smoking hot and somewhat overtly flirtatious. I'll never forget Tim's mom!
