The Final TD, DA's Lack of Authority, and the Consequence of Salary Cap Paralysis

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Titans just fired Mike Vrabel. 4 consecutive winning seasons, followed by 2 losing seasons. This is the DA's first winning season, and he needed a 17 game schedule and the easiest one in the league at that, to achieve it....

Like Lattimore? I think most of us agree that if we had to choose between Marshon and Dennis Allen we'd unanimously vote to keep Marshon.
What is the front office thinking?

Dont' forget to mention he was Coach of The Year in 2021 .

And a career HC record of 56-48 (.538).

Meanwhile you have a substitute walking around Airline Dr @ 24-46 HC & his job is "safe".

Loomis, Dennis Lauscha and Gayle Benson will wake up one day .

And not only that, Loomis seems to be going out of his way to protect him against the players. Like he's Vince Lombardi or something.

I hope AK, Demario, MT13, Marshon etc all go and tell Loomis they are out. They deserve better.
I agree.

Loomis can say to the players back Allen or we will get rid all he wants. He has left the team in such a state with the salary cap he won't be able to trade till till after June by which time he will have restructured all their deals and theyll be untradeable

Loomis needs his walking papers as much as Allen and he needs to take a few of the scouts with him

That's a phone call I'd make as soon as I get the news. Vrabel would be a solid pick up.

Loomis is all in for next year! He will double down on DA's authority and trade or cut some conscientious objectors who grumble too loudly. That attitude might initially get the locker room in line, but when the losses rack up again next year we can watch a full blown revolution in the locker room.

Dennis Allen may have saved his job for now, but my guess is that he gets cut midseason after another crappy showing as head coach.

I agree. Loomis is like a big bad boss with a ton of command and authority who owes all his employees money with liens on his house as collateral. He can talk big all day but the fact is that he can't cut or trade anyone without an expiring contract and even not extending MT or Winston will probably cost him money that he was probably planning on for the salary cap. The core of the oline that defied his precision gf DA and pushed Williams into the endzone will be back that his year and Loomis cannot do anything about it unless he violates the salary cap which would cause the NFL to terminate Adebo and Olave's contracts to bring us into compliance since they are the ones without dead cap attached to cutting.

No matter what happens or doesn’t happen, we are in for some pain.

God please let this happen. We get two 3rd round picks. Division Rival gets a younger Bernie Madoff.
