There have only been a small handful of head coaches that have been the decision makers when it came to drafting over the past decade or so. Payton, Belichick, Andy Reid, and Bill Parcells are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.
You make a good point. Although, whoever has been making the first round picks needs to let someone else spin the wheel of fortune this time around. Our offense lineman evaluations have been absolutely terrible under the current selection committee and the results are staggeringly pathetic.

We have invested a lot of capital in the line and it hasn't produced a worthwhile investment. Peat and Ruiz are both a prime example of not hitting on linemen and having to move them to guard where they are just average, if that.

We didn't even see Nick Saldiveri when our linemen struggled with injuries and ineptitude for most of the season. It certainly doesn't say much for our scouts and talent evaluators that are responsible for making the right pick from the big board.

Then again, Doug Marrone is their coach. So, there's poor coaching holding them back as well..

You can look at the offensive line draftees across the entire league over the past five or so years and I'll bet you that ours are no worse than any other team in the bottom half. Possibly no worse than any team in the bottom 3/4th's. It seems hits on the offensive line have become rare indeed over the last half dozen years or more.

We need an upgrade to Douggie Marrone. We would be better if we had someone to coach up young inexperienced players besides the guy Nick Saban fired after one year.
