Re: Official 2024 Saints Draft Discussion

Just try and get play to fill both sides of the trenches this year unless someone starts to fall thats just too good to let slip.

I think you can enough players to fill any other gaps in FA and with UDFA. But unless they can stop the run and stop the pressure on the QB and actually make some holes for Kamara then the team isn't going anywhere next season.

Looking long term there are big decisions to make especially in 2025, but theres a big light at the end of the tunnel after this season with the cap though it will mean letting go of some players and leaving holes in the team

Going into 2025 season, going by overthecap
Demario Davis will be 36 going on 37 by the start of the playoffs
Taysom Hill will be 35 by the season starts
Lattimore 29
Cam Jordan 36
Alvin Kamara 30

Ryan Ramczyk will most likely retire
And Derek Carr contract looks cutable with a post June cut

The team needs a major youth injection

"Two receivers to the left, Garcon to the right. Manning in the shotgun, puts Collie in motion. Looks in his direction...it's picked off! It's picked off! It's Tracy Porter again! He's runnin' free! He's gonna go all the way!

Why cut the reigning NFL MVP?

I was gonna trade in my 10yo suv in a year or so, but why let go of the reigning formula one monaco grand prix champ?

Re: Official 2024 Saints Draft Discussion

Jerzhan Newton
DT - Illinois

Has crazy upper body strength
3 tech
Over 100 pressures (most in FBS) in 2 seasons
2 time All American
Very good Pro Day (Saints scouts were in attendance)
Projected as a first year starter

Negatives

Short arms
Somewhat inconsistent with pad level
Pro comparison - Javon Hargraves

Some scouts predict bottom of first rd or EARLY day 2 selection

Re: Official 2024 Saints Draft Discussion

Our roster is already loaded with high RAS players. We need to upgrade our RAS at head coach and GM.

Re: Official 2024 Saints Draft Discussion

Byron Murphy II
DT
Texas

My analysis is somewhat biased here. He was a wrecking show here in Dallas (Desoto High) & a disruptor down at Texas.
Has scored TWICE on offense, once rushing & once RECEIVING.

Big 12 DL of the year

We’ve ALL seen what happens when you bring heat up the middle.
Instant pressure can blow up run and passing games. Byron has shown the consistent ability to destroy pockets & take QBs off their spots.

Super talented & eager to learn and get better.

Not sure if he makes it to Day 2, but if so I’d be curious to see what the Saints do if he is there @ pick 45.
