However, it is a fact that Dennis Allen's Defense plays better in the second half.

Not saying it's all his fault because the offense definitely didn't help the D out much.

However there were must win games where we were in such a hole from the first half, that whilst his D played well in the second half, it was too little too late.

Vikings game - 24 points allowed 1st half, 3 points allowed 2nd half

Lions game - 24 points allowed 1st half, 9 points allowed 2nd half

Houston game - 17 points allowed 1st half, 3 points allowed 2nd half

As I say, not all on his D as the offense was inept for 3/4 of the season, but I don't quite believe Dennis Allens "half time adjustments are overrated" quip, when the stats absolutely back up that his team is better in the 2nd half.

In fact, the way the games went was a microcosm of how the season went. Dug a hole, worked to get out of it, got hot near the end when it was already too late.
Older players take longer to warm up.

Go find you a Will Anderson Jr (Texans DROY) in round 1.

Gotta generate a legit pass rush.

Or use the guy you traded up for? Zach Baun

Not every player drafted #2 overall ends up like Will Anderson. Chase Young was drafted by Washington with the #2 overall pick at the same position and he's been a huge disappointment. It's always a crap shoot via the draft.

Personally, I'd like to upgrade from Zach.

If we are talking Free agency, I'd prefer a guy like John Uche.

If we're looking in the 2024 draft, the kid from Bama Dallas Turner.

I don't understand your comparison to Zach Baun here.

Right.

Personally, the Saints as a team should ALWAYS be looking to get better at each and every position. Baun is a nice piece, however he is upgradable.

The lack of a consistent pass rush hurt us on the back end.

We gotta “hit” on these draft picks like Detroit & Texans have done.

This here 100 percent. May not be a popular opinion but I believe every D line slot is upgradeable. To include LB position (Davis excluded). Competition is healthy. Young pushes old, old teaches the young.
