It may be that the only reason we have kept Hedley so long is his size at 6'4 and rugby experience. If Penning starts, we might need to carry a punter who is big and physical enough to help Penning block his man after punting. It doesn't matter how far the ball is punted if the return man can just score a TD running toward the hole where Penning goes down. |

Jaguars offensive line There is an important distinction that should be made with each of these position groupings. The inclusion of a particular group does not mean that unit has a high talent level or no concerns of its own. It means that other teams may have interest in the expendable depth that they have accumulated. Beyond Jacksonville's starting offensive line, the Jaguars have a handful of players with valuable experience, including Blake Hance, Luke Fortner, Walker Little and Tyler Shatley. Cole Van Lanen was acquired in a trade last year and Javon Foster was a fourth-round selection out of Missouri. Seahawks offensive line Christian Haynes and Anthony Bradford are competing for the starting right guard position, but the rest of the offensive line is largely known when right tackle Abe Lucas is healthy. In addition to those six players, the franchise has Stone Forsythe, who stepped up admirably when injuries necessitated, George Fant, Olu Oluwatimi, McClendon Curtis and a pair of sixth-round draft choices. Cardinals offensive line Arizona has overhauled its offensive line in recent years. Reserves Kelvin Beachum, Trystan Colon, Elijah Wilkinson and Keith Ismael have over 200 starts between them. They also have third-, fourth- and fifth-round draft picks from the past two years sitting on the bench. There are a lot of bodies in that room and the release of veteran offensive tackle Dennis Daley was only the beginning of changes. |

The New Orleans Saints desperately need help throughout the offensive line. Erik McCoy is a reliable center and a healthy version of Taliese Fuaga can hold down the left tackle position, but that’s about it. Starting right tackle Trevor Penning is an active liability, and the Saints guard situation is one of the worst in the league. Having three subpar starters is bad news for any football team, but it’s especially worrisome for New Orleans. Derek Carr is one of the worst quarterbacks in the league against pressure, and the offensive line woes could sink the whole season. Can Dennis Daley fix the offensive line as a free agent? Probably not. However, he can’t make it much worse. Head coach Dennis Allen will probably lose his job if he can’t turn the ship around in 2024, so he can’t leave any stone unturned. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the reigning division champs and the Atlanta Falcons added a plethora of talent throughout the offseason, so New Orleans has their work cut out for them if they want to make the playoffs for the first time in the post-Drew Brees Era. |

Re: Tracking Roster Cutdowns
Good grief. Daley isn’t that good anyway. Maybe average, and possibly below average.
There has to be someone out there. ****. |

Re: Tracking Roster Cutdowns
Andy Dalton is a below average starting QB but would be an upgrade over me. The same might be said of a player like Daley over Penning.

Re: Tracking Roster Cutdowns
Penning is a train wreck (pass protection) waiting to happen.
I don’t care “how well” he plays in the last pre season game. He’s been very underwhelming & unpredictable thus far. All you hope for when drafting in the 1st rd is to land a player that becomes quality starter. Trevor is not. Saints front office had plenty of time to evaluate, this didn’t just creep up. Just a matter of time before he whiffs & gets Carr folded up/seriously hurt. |

I doubt there's more than two or three that might be available for trade that could come close to being a real starter upgrade. It's going to be expensive winning that bidding war.
I'm afraid the best we can do right now is go with what we have and hope the scheme covers the deficiencies. |

Re: Tracking Roster Cutdowns
Penning is horrible. We can reach out to Cincinnati for that kid from bama. Think his name is Williams. He was wanting a trade after they drafted his replacement
