Week 2: Saints @ Dallas Cowboys

Cowboys vs. Saints Game Info
When: Sunday, September 15, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. ET
Where: AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas
TV Info: FOX

After firing on all cyclinders in a week one massacre of the Panthers, we go on the road to face an excellent regular season team in the Dallas Cowboys. Not only do they have an explosive offensive, they generate a ton of pressure on defense. While beating the Panthers in that manner was satisfying for the soul, this will be a statement game and give us a good idea of what to expect for the rest of the season imo.

On paper, we match up pretty well defensively. The biggest question here will be how will Carr and our offensive line handle their pass rush. How will Kubiak game plan for that and will Carr be able to execute?

Cowboys vs. Saints Odds

BetMGM Cowboys (-6.5) 45.5
DraftKings Cowboys (-7) 45
FanDuel Cowboys (-6.5) 45.5

It's going to be a big, big week.

Dallas will be a tough opponent.

Zimmer is already game-planning for us (he has tape). Their defensive line is pretty stout & our offensive line will be tested early. Have to find a way to keep DLawrence and Parsons contained.

Winnable but the Saints must bring their A game, specifically in those trenches.

Any Given Sunday.

Re: Week 2: Saints @ Dallas Cowboys

The amount of pressure they were able to generate against the Browns was scary. With that being said, Deshaun Watson was hot garbage. This will be a true test to see if our offensive line has really improved. I do think we should be able to run the football but we'll see how Kubiak gameplans.

The thing about the Dallas pass rush is that they line up Parsons everywhere.

Gotta somehow keep Carr clean.

Re: Week 2: Saints @ Dallas Cowboys

We came out HOT at home against a bad team and a division rival in the Panthers. It was the PERFECT start to the season, which actually BEGINS next week on the road against the Cowboys.

I say this because we “should” have all of the confidence needed to prove that whatever we developed under wraps, and flaunted against the Panthers, can be brought onto the road and executed against a tougher opponent. If we can even come close to dominating the Cowboys in their house, the way we looked in the Dome yesterday, we will know that we have something special going on this season. The whole league will be put on notice. Sunday can’t come quick enough…

So the spread is Cows (-6.5) 45.5 after the Saints absolutely flame broiled a NFL team by damn near 40 points 👀.

I knew the Carolina Panthers were bad but not this bad.

Or perhaps (the dreaded) we’re not that good? We will find out soon enough…

I think this team will show a lot of grit in 2024.

IMO, this defense will be good (11+ wins) enough to give us a chance each week. Starting with the Cows on Sunday.

Team health will be important. Did Lattimore get hurt bad? I heard he had a hammie issue.

Hammie issue related to the hip issue. Guaranteed to impact his performance this week against Lamb.

Spreads are "public opinion". Dallas fans will jump on getting less than 7. Saints fans will think they should be able to keep it to a one score game.

Spreads are actually odds makers, driving the betting trends. ;)

I hope the Saints keep a FB or TE next to Carr for pass plays to try to keep him clean.

The Point Spread is Based on Public Opinion. One often-made mistake is assuming that the point spread is an accurate representation of which team is better. Because a point spread is meant to attract bets on both teams in a game, the point spread is set based on a number to draw more bettors.

Well this game will decide a couple of questions.

Are the Saints really that good?
Are the Panthers really that bad?
I suspect we're somewhere in the middle.

If we win, I feel we could be a great team this year
If we lose a close one, I'd say we're still a very good team
If we get blown out, then we're probably just an also ran hovering around .500 all year.

We'll damn sure find out if our O-line has improved or not.

The whole idea is to WIN AND BE A GREAT TEAM THIS YEAR.
Been too many years since 2010 with us being in the other categories.
This coming game will be telling.

Saints will need to score quickly.

Dowdle & Zeke aren’t going to “wow” you running the ball.

Zimmer vs Carr … good matchup.

We beat Dallas and Philly and I’m riding with Edna Carr until the wheels fall off.

It’s a big game but there is lots of season left. Most teams will look a lot different in week 17 than they will in week 2.

Did I read correctly that the Saints have won the last 10 of 14 in the series? I do know that DA defenses have performed well against Dak led offenses. I’m not about to pick Saints to win this game, but I do believe they can keep it close. Shut down the run and QB scrambles, no YAC for Ceedee. On offense it’s easy run baby run. Should be a good game but I believe the real measuring stick is next week.

Why the Eagles and not the Cows? Dallas went 12-5 last season and won the NFC East.

Sunday's matchup against the Cows will be a good gauge for the Saints.
