Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors

Leaning Brady. Is he strong enough to stand up to Loomis and the cronies?

Would view McCarthy as a quality coach but will he take us beyond round 1 of the playoffs?

Glenn is going to Jets. We passed up on him when we had the chance and now we're in a worse spot while the J.E.T.S. have money and motivation with a much better roster.

Slowik, Flores, Gruden.... none of them have what we need.

As of the latest information available:

Speculation and Interest: There has been significant speculation about Deion Sanders potentially coaching the New Orleans Saints. Various sources have linked Sanders with the Saints due to the team firing their head coach, Dennis Allen, and seeking a new leader. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler has noted that the Saints might be interested in hearing what Sanders has to say, suggesting they could reach out to him during their search for a new head coach.

Sanders' Stance: Deion Sanders has expressed that the only scenario in which he would consider leaving his current position at the University of Colorado for an NFL job is if he could coach both of his sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders. This condition adds a layer of complexity to any potential move to the NFL, as it would depend on where his sons end up, particularly Shedeur, who is projected to be a high draft pick.

Other Considerations:
Sanders has built a strong reputation at the college level, turning around the Colorado Buffaloes program. His success and charisma have made him a notable figure in coaching circles, leading to speculation about his next move.
However, his lack of direct NFL coaching experience might be a concern for some teams, although his playing career and understanding of the professional game could be seen as assets.
The Saints are looking for someone who can potentially bring a "splash" hiring, akin to what Sean Payton represented for them previously. Sanders' high profile fits this mold.

Final Decision: Given these points, while there's clear interest from the Saints and Sanders is being considered, the decision would hinge on several factors:
Sanders' willingness to leave college football for the NFL.
The alignment of his sons' NFL futures with the Saints or another team.
The Saints' evaluation of whether Sanders' coaching style, philosophy, and lack of NFL coaching experience align with their needs.

In summary, while there's a possibility, it's contingent on Sanders' personal conditions, team fit, and how the NFL coaching carousel plays out in relation to his sons. The situation is speculative, and no definitive commitment from either side has been publicly confirmed as of now.

If Sanders is hired I would no longer be able to follow the Saints. He is a horrible coach. He has done absolutely nothing but get his overrated son noticed. I would be ok with Flores, Brady, or Glenn. I would be open to others but those are the names floating around. I'd even be ok with Rizzi returning before Sanders

Deion knows how to identify and bring in talent, build a formidable coaching staff, and motivate a team. He’d command an unparalleled level of respect in the locker room. His only issue is going to be playing daddy ball because he’s coaching his kids.

Unfortunately I will watch the Saints no matter who they choose, but I agree Deion is not a wise choice. Only offensive coach I might would give a shot to is Lincoln Riley or Marcus Freeman. You may not like Riley’s style but his history with quarterbacks is second to none.

I see things a little differently, Id say that Deion would command an unparalleled level of admiration in the locker room for what he did as a player. Deion has always been about Deion, which is globally known and understood, and while his talents on the field have motivated thousands if not tens of thousands of all ages to play the game, admiration for talent does not necessarily translate to the qualities required of a coach that make men stop, listen, and follow.

There is no humility with Deion Sanders and 'daddy ball' is part of Deion being all about Deion, his children are just an extension of him.

In other words admiration for Deion Sanders is in no way shape or form the same as admiration for Shula, Landry, or Belichick. All masters of what they did just not viewed in the same light if you get my meaning. :bng:

Show me some form of proof. He has been a coach at JSU for 2 years and UC for 2 years. that does not make a NFL coach. He has not stayed anywhere long enough to evaluate his coaching ability or his ability to bring in players.

If you had told me in his playing days that Deion would've become a viable coach and produced a Heisman winner I would've laughed you out of the room. It's amazing how far he's coming.

He'd be quite a gamble. But in the odd chance that it works out for him in NOLA, it would really trigger Atlanta, Dallas and San Fran, and that aspect would be very cool.

McCarthy wouldn’t be my first choice but at the same time I think the Saints could do much worse (see Dennis Allen) than him.

They need to interview everyone.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Vinny Bonsigno reports there is “a lot of momentum” for Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson taking the Raiders head coaching job.

What a shocker this would be.
