Head Coaching News and Rumors

I figured it's time to get this started.

So, anyone seen or heard of who has been visited Airline Dr.?

I haven’t heard this name mentioned at all but please tell me there is no chance they will interview Kubiak for the job.

I hear Matt Nagy's name, but I really hope that is not true.

Per reports, David Shaw to interview for Saints HC job.

A little off topic but...
Here's a list of interviews for the Jets job.

What I notice there and everywhere else is NOBODY is interviewing Dennis Allen for a Head Coach job. Amazing after the Mickey Loomis boot licking.

:p:D

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports the Saints have requested to interview Bills OC Joe Brady for their head coaching vacancy.

I think the job is his if he wants it.

Ex-Allen lieutenant Aaron Glenn is expected to receive an interview request from the Saints, ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweets.

Mark Kafka?

"The Saints have requested permission to interview Giants assistant head coach and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka for their vacant coaching position, Josina Anderson reports."

Apparently, David Shaw was a rumor.
PFT saying the Saints did NOT request an interview with him.

What about the Giants offense makes anyone want to hire their coordinator?

I’m really starting to hate Loomis.

Brian Flores please call Mickey and just tell him you are willing to take this job. Joe Brady, Kellen Moore? Stop wasting fans time.

Reading some of these names and it just seems Mickey wants someone who he can control and won't demand to control roster and staff building.

Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors

Whoever takes on this role must be capable of motivating both the team and the other coaches, ensuring that they are effectively teaching fundamental skills, such as tackling. It’s evident that basic fundamentals in blocking and tackling were neglected this season. Additionally, we need to evaluate our medical and conditioning staff to determine the root cause of all the injuries we’ve experienced.

The last thing we need is a coach who brings or invites drama to the team.

Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors

I like Joe Brady, but he seems a bit young still. Perhaps that means nothing, since Sean McVay and some others have been young head coaches as well.

I have always been of the mindset that it is best to have an offensive minded head coach with a great defensive coordinator. I really don't have any stats to back that up, so I could be totally wrong.

Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors

Word is that they are interviewing David Shaw from Stanford.

If Loomis brings him (or any lesser known college coach in not named Sanders) in, he's looking for someone who will bend without push back. It's also a refusal to adjust to rebuilding instead of putting a band-aid on a bullet wound!

Re: Head Coaching News and Rumors

I think we should consider Pete Carroll because I get the sense he could outcharm Mickey Loomis with an older lady for influence on decisions and he is not a proponent of paying mediocre aging QBs ridiculous money. Just get Pete in a room with Gayle lets see Mr Big League Chew try to shoot down that smile. Pete would likely be willing to coach short term and could transition into a GM role and would be a very good qualified GM. Pete's problem with the Seahawks was he could not lose enough games to get a top QB in the draft. We have the roster that can solve that in 2025.

Interesting points. Is Carroll even looking to get back into the NFL? If so, that would be a decent hire.

He did win with a journeyman QB for a couple of years. But is he better than BB would have been?

Fully expecting Mickey to go with whatever coach tells him that he can work with the current roster and how injuries killed the team.

Personally, I’m already more hopeful and excited about the next season just knowing we’re gonna have a new coach. I haven’t been this excited about the team since week 2.

It was just a gradual sinking ship.

I’m hopeful.

Well, our boy #9 has his thoughts on who should be the next HC. Hopefully, Ms. Gayle is listening to someone other than Loomis!

For the first time in a while, I'm really not.The 2017 draft and Drew Brees had kept the ship afloat. But Brees is long gone and that 2017 class is gone via trade or retirement.

The Saints have had nothing, other than TH7, since in the last 7 years that points the arrow upwards. And that's Loomis' fault. And Loomis is still here.

Until Mickey turns over the football reigns to someone else, I fear that no coaching change is going to make much difference. We as an organization will still be in the rotating carousel of extensions for aging stars, reach picks giving up draft capital, and letting go players who go on in their careers looking like hall of famers (Hedrickson, Baun).

Wake me up when Mickey kicks himself upstairs. Until then, it's just the same ole, same ole.

Understandable outlook bro.

I guess I just feel like some change is bound to happen and this team was pretty close to rock bottom this year.

I don’t think we sniff the playoffs for another season or two. But I’m just hopeful that maybe the team starts to get on track and we find a coach that is worth a ****.

Of course I could be totally wrong and we’re screwed. Lol

This was me 4 years ago. Yes, after the 12-4 season.

Rebuild it. Hard reset. Way past due.

If you don’t, expect to see what you saw in 2024.

What really sucks is watching former players we couldn’t (ML the “cap ologist”) retain, thrive with other teams.

Won't happen with Loomis at the helm. I was hoping that Mrs. Benson had her eyes opened in the DA firing debacle and Loomis' reaction to see it's time to clean house.

It seems like other teams are kicking the tires on Used Cars around the league.
Ron Rivera (Bears HC)
Robert Saleh (49ers DC)
Mike Tomlin (Trade bait)

Other names being batted about:
Pete Carroll
Kliff Kingsbury
Mike Vraebel
John Gruden
Rex Ryan

Any of these neames even intrigue you for the Saints HC job?

Not one

The only name on that list worth considering is Tomlin and I don't think he is going anywhere.

Gruden for sure. Tomlin only if a trade wasn’t involved.

Nope.

A lot of used cars with super high mileage.

The Saints desperately need a hungry coach. Someone that's starving.

The game has evolved & new blood is necessary.
