Re: Derek Carr
If Derek Carr wants fans to like him, he should not expect a $40 million payday after a 5-12 record and a season ended by a bonehead play. If Derek Carr wants fans to like him, he should be honest and upfront about his injuries and not hype himself up while saving disappointment for his few remaining fans who defended him. I understand he's a businessman and he got his bag or whatever, but business decisions don't win popularity contests and a businessman accepts that. If all that matters to him is whats in the bible not social media, why is he reviewing a Rolls Royce on social media? Everything that can be said about it is already in the bible, and it says to to spend that money helping people not on ridiculous cars and eye liner. This waah waah social media is bad crap is all fine and good for someone who is out reading to blind children or whatever, but Carr is on Youtube reviewing Rolls Royces he bought with dollars exracted directly from fans disappointment for his lousy performances and lack of leadership. There is no part of the bible that says get your bag, give back nothing, and always ask for more. Derek Carr doesn't believe one word in the bible, he just thinks he is equivalent to the main character.
I hope we hold Carr on the roster until late August 2026 with no further pay except his vet minimum salary, never let him even see the practice field, then cut him when no other team needs a QB. |

Re: Derek Carr
With 3 qb’s within 3 years of being drafted, I would assume this means Carr is a post June 1st cut. I’m not sure if this is correct, but I’ve see it would save roughly 2 million against the cap. If he is sitting anyway, we might as well cut and roll with the young bucks

And that $1.25m wouldnt really be saved unless we went through the season with a 52 man roster because another player making minimum salary would replace him. Instead, cutting Carr would represent an 8 figure massive financial windfall to Carr who could sign with another team for between $10-25 million and keep all but $1.25m of his Saints salary. This model of rewarding holdouts who feign mysterious aches and pains with restructures that guarantee their contract and them a cut that lets them double up signing elsewhere would lead to other Saints doing the same to double their salaries and play for rivals. The best thing to do with Carr is to hold him on the roster until late August 2026, possibly on IR, and lock him out of the building. He has no new non-minimal salary or guaranteed until week 1 2026 so if we hold him until late august 2026 he cant cash in elsewhere and his actions will have consequences. Even the threat of doing this could force Carr to come to the negotiating table. For example, wanting to a find a new team in March 2026 or sooner, he could agree to a trade with favorable terms for the Saints like agreeing to reduce his 2026 salary for a trade partner or he could agree to reduce his 2026 salary to the vet minimum in return for the Saints declaring him a post-june-1 cut in march 2026, which will improve the immediate cap savings for the saints compared to if they declared him a post-june-1 cut in march 2026 with his $50m salary on the books in which case it would not come off the books until june.
