this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; How dare anyone ever come to this board and play that card. I've read these guys on B&G for years now, and I can see their passion for this team. It runs as deep as my own, as does that ...

Whodi and I disagreed last year on losing out. I saw his point, but I wanted them to backdoor the playoffs. There are 2 schools of thought...root for your team hell or highwater, or root for the greater good of what high draft picks bring versus drafting in the middle every year. Doeasn't always work or teams wouldn't be bad for so many years (Bengals, Browns, Cards all come to mind, though the Bengals are really putting it together with some great play at QB and a smart coach....2 things we need.) Neither is right or wrong. Like I said earlier.....I tried to want Nugent to make that FG for the battle for high picks. I told my friend who is a Jets fan that we would not let them Lose...he laughed. Ultimately.....I was very nervous when Nuge lined up because I really wanted the Saints to win....however meaningless it may have been. That's just me. There may have been people on this board who wanted him to hit it because they want a top 3 pick...I can't question their fandom, they just see it differently. The season is kinda like a battle...do you keep fighting when you know that you're done and lose MORE soldiers when you could regroup to fight another day? People who want the Saints to lose now are just pulling for us to regroup and start fresh in '06 with greater improvements. I happen to want us to fight till the last man.....it's just what is in my heart, that doesn't mean it's a better opinion |

I remember the discussion last year, I was heavily involved.
Do I think that we would be better off going 2-14 than 8-8? Sure, but I cannot knowingly root for my team to lose. And since it really has no effect on the game, I will sit in the comfort of my home, and continue to root for them to win, even though in the back of my mind, I know we would be better off losing. May not make any sense, but that is how I was built. Mark it down, this might be the only time you'll ever hear me agree with TheGambler. Fitzpatrick- I remember me and saintswhodi both gave this guy a thumbs up during the draft, but if you told me that he would play against ANY NFL team during his rookie year, and on top of that, complete 63% of his passes, throw for 300+ yards, and three touchdowns....I would have called you a liar to your face. I watched some of the game, and some of the things he did (little things) impressed the hell out of me. Now, that being said, nobody had any game footage on this guy, but now they do. I do expect that his next few games won't go quite as well, but that is to be expected. Synopsis: Give me the smart QB. |
The waiting drove me mad....
I don't want to hear from those that know... Everything has changed, absolutely nothing's changed Eddie is a....draftnik? |

I have a dream where I can come to a Saints board, free of namecalling and backhanded comments. A place where people throw their opinions out, but DON'T feel the need to push it on everyone else.
Hey, a guy can dream, can't he? |

Fair enough.
See you guys in early January, right after the last game of the season. I'm now on 1-month hiatus. |

I've got one: "TB".
That's a TOOLBAG. A person who continually comes on a message board for the express reason of name calling, crap stirring, and general antagonism of fellow Saints fans. The TB club now has 3 members.... I'm sure there will be more And by the way....calling the Saints a flavor of the month is just laughable. You talk about a bandwagon that's hard to jump on..... There is no one anywhere that can be accused of jumping on this wagon.....it's full of snakes, turds, and broken glass. |

Last night when I was watching the game I was glad to see our team playing well, especially our offense. However, I do really want a good draft pick because I do think this team needs a lot of help, and the draft is the first place to start since obviously we are going to have a very difficult time signing free agents this offseason. But, even though I want a high draft pick, it wasn't like I was rooting against the Saints, I guess I was just indifferent, or probably to be more accurate: I was happy with either outcome because a loss helps us in the draft and a win is a win. I'm sure some other guys felt that way; that either outcome was good, and it was probably less outright rooting for the Jets.
