Dirk Johnson or Toby Gowin?
What is everyone's vote on the punters so far? It looks pretty even so far but I'm kinda pulling for Johnson. He has a stronger leg and is a pretty athletic guy. He also seems to be more of a long-term solution to our punting game.
I like Gowin and God knows he's had enough game-saving tackles for the Saints but should they really be relying on that anyway? If their special team coverage had been worth a damn over the past few years I don't think there would be much of a decision about who should have the punting job. |

Dirk Johnson or Toby Gowin?
Oops! I always forget to add Gowin\'s position on the kickoff team. I guess that fact that he pulls double duty helps him out a lot. But I do wish we had a kicker that could consistently put it into the endzone though. What\'s the deal on Carney? I know he says that he can kick off but how good is he? Here\'s how I view our kickers right now:
1. John Carney - I was scared as hell when the Saints signed this guy a few years ago because his percentage over 40 yards was atrocious the year before they signed him. I also thought his time was up. However he proved me wrong and had a great year. Now, can he continue that trend? I hope so. I would however like to have a kicker that could kick field goals AND kick off. Hope the Saints are keeping their options open on this one. 2. Toby Gowin - Having a heck of a preseason. Will most likely hold off Dirk Johnson as the punter. He can kick off although I would like a deeper kick on kick offs. 3. Dirk Johnson - Has a stronger leg than Gowin. Also is athletic enough to fake a punt and make it work. Fact that he is the newcomer and that Gowin is having a great preseason may spell the end for Johnson. If the Saints cut him he will wind up on another team and will most likely wind up in the top 10 punters for the year. |

If Johnson can kick off , gotta go for Johnson . Cutting Gowin would help on the cap .We are still going to need some corner help , so make the cut and use the cash to get some corner depth .

Dirk Johnson or Toby Gowin?
Is it me or is Gowin wearing LB pads? LOL You have to admit how awesome it is to see a return guy run up on Gowin like he\'s gonna run through him, but instead gets knocked backwards by Toby. woooooo, thats an incredible sight!!! Then I love when Toby gets up and talks trash to the guy as he\'s laying on his back. Gotta keep Gowin for that alone!! He fires up the crowd and the D as they are coming on the field w/ plays like that. He might be the first punter in the HOF for his total tackles. Johnson outkicks Gowin only by about 3 or 4 yards on average, so I\'d have to say Gowin stays. Johnson will get a gig in the NFL for sure though.
Carney has looked pretty stinky this preseason. I hope its not a trend w/ him. I guess we\'d better hope that the offense gets in the endzone alot this year and not leave Carney w/ many 35-40 yarders. |

Toby is the man! The only punter not mocked for their cushy job, in the league. Double duty and can lower the boom. Return guys never consider the punter, until Toby appears.
