this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Does Loomis have anymore interviews lined up that anyone knows of or is he in the downselect mode? Any idea of when he will be expected to make an announcement? Just wondering . . ....

Still have Martz.
I wouldn't mind if they talked to Mularkey. |

I think all the interviews are done. It is all down to negotiations now with an announcement as early as tomorrow.

According to the article "Saints interview Sherman, Martz" on the left, the team is stilled interested in two other people: Fresno State coach Pat Hill and Steelers offensive line coach Russ Grimm. I believe of all the coaches they have interviewed, Sherman is far and away the best.

I just got back from New Orleans today and the talk is that the Saints will name the head coach next week. This was reported on WDSU tv yesterday.

Any indication on who it might be? I read in an article by Len Pasqurelli on ESPN.com that: "... New Orleans officials were very impressed with Mike Sherman last week and the former Green Bay coach has quietly emerged as the leading candidate to fill the Saints' opening."

The two names I heard mostly around town were Carthon and Payton. But I wouldn't etch it in stone just yet.

Saints | Sherman the leading candidate?
Mon, 16 Jan 2006 08:38:15 -0800 ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports there was talk in the press box of this weekend's playoff games that New Orleans Saints officials were very impressed with Mike Sherman last week and the former Green Bay Packers head coach has quietly emerged as the leading candidate to fill the Saints' opening at head coach. and I believe in an interview with James Brown and Jay Glazer on Fox this past weekend that Glazer stated he talked to Loomis and he wants to make a decision by tomorrow. |

I will go through the roof if the Saints hire Sherman, he's the right guy for the job, he'll bring leadership which is the most important factor in hiring a coach for N.O, we all know what a mess the team is in..
It would be nice to wake up in the morning and the news is we gots us a coach |

It seems like every day someone else becomes the leading candidate... first Carthon, then Payton, and now it's Sherman. Tomorrow it's going to be Martz and they day after it's going to be Grimm. Damn the media!!!
