Only because I don't think Payton is interviewing anywhere else:
Bills | Sherman will interview for head coaching vacancy Mon, 16 Jan 2006 19:46:37 -0800 Ed Kilgore, of WGRZ.com, reports free agent head coach Mike Sherman will interview with the Buffalo Bills for their head coaching vacancy this week. http://www.kffl.com/hotw/ We need to hurry up and pull the trigger on Sherman before we have to settle for Payton. |

RE: Bad Sign?
LOL i just finished ranting on another post about Sherman and Payton. I think people want Sherman so much that they are doing their best to find fault in Payton. We will be fine with either of them if we make the right moves in free agency and the draft.

RE: Bad Sign?
GT, why do you like Payton? Just want to know your reasons, maybe I can be swayed from the Sherman/Henderson camp...

RE: Bad Sign?
I don't know if I like him or dislike him. There's not enough evidence to DISLIKE him. Since it's a strong possibility that he will be our coach, I'm going to try and find reasons that we need to be excited about getting him. There's no reason to be dogging him so much if the guy is probably going to be here and hasn't even coached one game. Also I'd figure the Leinart guys would be eager to get a QB-oriented coach in here.
All I know is he is starting to be hyped up the same way Kubiak has been for years. His own offense in Dallas loves him and doesn't want him to leave. Parcells doesn't want him to leave. He was offensive coordinator of the Giants in their Super Bowl year, and he was #1 in line for the Raiders job in '04 before they got cold feet and hired Norv Turner. If we end up with Sherman, fine. If we end up with Payton, fine. I'd prefer a coach that is on the up and up in his career and is young like Payton, not one that just got canned. He reminds me of Jon Gruden in that respect. I really think Payton will be a good one, though. Either way I think we will be fine unless we mess up FA and the draft. |

Good reasons
Also, any deciple of the Tuna is a friend of mine. He may be a good coach. I also think Sherman got a bad rap in Green Bay. He consistantly pumped out a winner. This was really his only bad season. So I agree we might have a good choice one way or another. |
