RE: the ideal situation

Cutler or Greenway from Iowa. I think Carpenter maybe there for our #34 pick.

RE: the ideal situation

You are correct, Pak. This particular trade scenario would actually be bad, given the value of the picks. They want the pick bad enough, we START talks at their entire draft.

RE: the ideal situation

a move down 5 spots that early in the draft warrents us getting multiple 1sts... ie this n next years at the very least... if it were me.. id ask for their first this year. next year. their 2nd rounder this year n either a 3rd and 4th or a 2nd next year

i think that they would have to think hard about giving up the 2nd next year b/c this is a very deep draft and they wont be making a pick until the 5th round if they gave up the 3rd and 4th this year.....

Hmmm so my trade scenario is actually not enough???? I didn't think it was unreasonable, especially if Bush could possibly be available at that spot.

A 1st, 3rd and 4th this year
A 1st next year and
A 3rd the next year if we could swing that.

RE: Re: RE: the ideal situation

It's the value of the picks, which I would think would be even more hightened, given the players that will be available.

the second overall pick carries a value of 2600
the seventh overall pick is valued at 1500
Oakland's 2nd round pick is valued at 510
Oakland's 3rd round pick is valued at 235
Oakland's 4th round pick is valued at 88
Oakland's 5th round pick is valued at 38.5
Oakland's 6th round pick is valued at 25.6
Oakland's 7th round pick is valued at 12.8
Oakland's total draft value= 2409.9

So, if they trade their entire draft for our first pick, they still owe us about 190.1 points worth of picks, which could easily equate into an additional 2nd round pick in next years draft.

The waiting drove me mad....
I don't want to hear from those that know...
Everything has changed, absolutely nothing's changed

Eddie is a....draftnik?

Which translates into....no one is crazy enough to trade their entire draft for the #2 this year because other teams need this draft to build up. If we were able to get a 3rd and a 4th, we would still need at least a first next year or a high profile player. Yet some claim that we should trade at all costs with no regard for getting equal value.

If we can't get equal value, I say no trade. I have saddled my horse with Lienart, but if we can garner a ton of picks by trading down, I would not be opposed to that either, as long as it makes sense.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: the ideal situation

i figured out that my trade scenerio would be way over valued for us...
a more likely scenerio would be
our first and our 4th for their first 2nd and first next year...
2708 pts - 2810 pts
or

our first for their 1st and 2nd and 3rd this year, and 2nd next year
2600 pts - 2645 pts pretty close...
