Gentlemen... the only reason we should take Cutler (which I think would be a waste of a pick) is if we trade down out of the #2 spot. Cutler just isn't the best QB in the draft. PERIOD. He didn't play like it in the season, he didn't play like it in the Senior Bowl, and he hasn't played like it EVER. Anybody who believes that Cutler is better than Young or Leinart is 1) misinformed, and has become caught up in all of this hype; 2) has probably never seen him play a single down of football (with the exception of Fan), but are just willing to accept that he's the next Dan Marino or some bull crap; or 3) a mixture of both. There's a reason this guy wasn't on the Heisman ballot, there's a reason his team couldn't even make it to a bowl game, there's a reason he didn't win any QB awards, and there's a reason that every CREDIBLE source talking about the draft (with the excpetion of crackhead Mortensen) has Cutler listed as the third best QB in the draft. The reason is: because he's not the best QB in the country. He hasn't proven anything. He hasn't won a national championship like the other two have. He's never completed more than 61% of his passes in a season. He's never thrown for more than 3100 yards. He's never thrown for more than 21 touchdowns in a season. He's never even been a finalist for the Davey O'Brien Award. He's never won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. Hell, the guy's never even had a winning season in his collegiate career. Why pass up on a guy who is being compared to Tom Brady and Carson Palmer for a guy who's never been a winner? Because he threw well in drills in a combine in February? It can't be because of his Senior Bowl because Charlie Whitehurst was a LOT better. So really, can anybody give me a concrete answer to why this guy should be the #2 selection in the draft, or even the first QB off the board? And please, if you're going to tell me we need to draft Cutler because he's "cocky," "has a good arm," or can bench press a lot, just save it, because that doesn't mean he's a good quarterback. It means he's athletic

Cutler's getting all the news stories because he's he only offensive talent DOING anything right now. The three best picks in the draft are resting and waiting for thier school's pro days. He'll do well in the NFL once he's had a year or two on the bench, but he's NOT rookie starter material.
Would I draft Cutler before Leinart? NO WAY. Before Young? Possibly. Young has a lot of strikes against him right now. |

If you'd like, go to neworleanssaints.com and watch the combine video of the WRs and QBs. Cutler obviously has a big arm, but it's obvious that he's not very accurate. It's a two-hour clip and I've seen him throw numerous bad passes that have missed badly. He looks a lot less acurate than several of the QBs at the combine, but that's just my opinion, you can watch it for yourself.

RE: A good read for Cutler fans.
I know that I I got involved with this yesterday, but come on, which is the point of this argument. From what I'm reading most everyone here thinks that both of these guys are going to be good quarterbacks. So what if one person thinks one thing and another person thinks something else. I mean, get off of it people. Frankly, at this point I would rather have Diet Pepsi Machine over what we have now.

RE: A good read for Cutler fans.
I am on the bandwagon to trade down and draft OL or D. That is my number one choice. Teams in the Superbowl did not have a francise QB and you can go back, exclude the Pats and you have nothing but teams with great lines. If I had to pick a QB with the second pick in the draft... I am weighting more towards cutler from what I have seen so far. Leinart has a lot of weapons and couldn't win the national championship, if Leinart comes to NO he will never have the weapons he has had in USC, he will not succeed in a Saint uniform. Young has major upside is an athlete who can put the game on his shoulders and win when it counts. Cutler seems to be the lesser of 2 evils for me... I think with less talent he has the most potential to be succsessful with whatever he has to work with... we still have a lot to go though with all the Pro days coming up...

RE: A good read for Cutler fans.
Wow....its good to see this thread is still kickin.
Deuce....biased eyes will never be impressed. Why is Moretensen a crackhead? Because he does not see things the way you do? Awww...what a shame. Whodi...still talkin about Brooks eh? Who is the one who really wants him to stay.....us? or YOU?? Anyway back to the topic....Deuce (someone please correct me if I am wrong) was Tom Brady a bonified winner in college? Was Marino? Yr. Att. Com. Per. Yds. TD Int. Rating 1979 222 130 .586 1680 10 9 80.5 1980 224 116 .518 1609 15 14 71.4 1981 380 226 .595 2876 37 23 90.4 1982 378 221 .584 2432 17 23 67.3 These are Marino's college stats. Does these stats look like a bonafied winner? No but guess what? He turned out to be the greatest. Why? I feel, he had that same never say die attitude that Cutler posseses. I don't recall Marino or Brady winning any "awards". (Again, correct me if I am wrong.) Like I said...collegiate awards really don't mean squat sometimes. I don't care if Leinart won the "Arm of God" award. Outside of the physical tools he already posseses, I personally like Cutler's attitude and I think that it will reflect on his success in the NFL. The Saints need a guy with his attitude at the helm. |
BINGO!!

I was not sold on the kid to be a top 10 pick but I have to say I was wronge. He would be good for the saints because he is use to getting pounded. With bentley gone that has turned into a key. Then the bench press he did well impressive. He is a tuff kid.
